What Generals did well was the distinction of units and their effects, many strategy game units feel same with just different visual effects of their attacks and unit model.

For example: nuke cannon, scud launcher, tomahawk missile, these are all artillery units but quite different in their use and effect and requires different strategy to deploy effectively.

The icon view in Supcom and PA was always a disappointment to me. I recognise that it's pretty much the only viable way to do it, but it's still a shame to miss out on how cool some of the units look D: .

Pretty sure it wasn't like this when i was a kid, and sun used to be yellow but now it is white

Pretty sure it wasn't like this when i was a kid, and sun used to be yellow but now it is white

As you can see, pretty simple, you just have to paint everyday for 20 years to get to this stage

I posted it because he shows his process in 4 steps, and it looks so easy in the gif but actually it isn't. That is actually not a full blown digital illustration, it is a concept art, though fundamentals apply to it aswell, difference is the "speed"

I have learned a lot in the past 6 months (which i couldn't for years when i did it on my own) learned from the best.

Nah, only portfolio site which have a few pieces that i can show for simple contract jobs or to get into an indie team.

Actually one of the jobs i applied to responded positively yesterday and gave me an art test, now i am waiting for the response. It is 2-3 week contract job but important for me to gain experience.
