To be fair, that one was from the FFX subreddit, but I assume the all mighty YT algorithm will now exclusively show me Trombone Champ videos for the next 2 weeks. :dx:

It's also this feeling that Google has always been present, when it hasn't, and that Google is almost the internet's equivalent to a nationality and that some of us are citizens of Google (or Alphabet Inc. if you want to be accurate and for it to sound more dystopian).

But, with the advent of AI, Google is no longer just a purveyor of internet services, it has become an entity with a malformed opinion (or, at least, the essence of one). An algorithm that feeds you things at least allows you to make a decision based on multiple sources (or allowed you more opportunity to do that). People only asking AI, or only being offered AI solutions is so ripe for algorithmic malice (I guess similar to the people that have been getting all their news from Facebook for the last decade) that it has me fearful of those that do fall into the comforting embrace of the LLM AI. With Google offering AI summaries of their searches is like eating algorithm bloody and raw, with all the completely unknown dangers that happen because of it.

You don't need to be stupid to be misinformed, you just need the core of your existence to be built around the concept of misinformation. The lie that universities make you more left-wing/liberal/woke is bollocks, universities show you how to think critically (which can come from other sources, it's just baked into further education).

I read a very interesting short story that delved into that premise, which is fearfully more strikingly close than ever.

Wouldn't that be nice? The horrors of a nuclear war seem quite pedestrian compared to the tech-brained insanity we're trudging in to.

I'm afraid the two are absolutely not mutually exclusive and both may well be coming to us in our lifetimes :( .

Perhaps, but within the warmth of nuclear fire we less likely to be a part of it (%

It won't be a country, it will be a corporation.

Or perhaps, India/China against each other or a proxy. When that conflict kicks off it's going to be brutal.

I am desperately trying to avoid the urge to prompt AI to create this.

I've tried a demo, but found it to play a bit stiff.

Might try it again at some point though, I think it's releasing in early access, not a full version.
