I'm sure your analysis of why these aren't thriving is good, but I've got another one; most AAA simply suck nowadays. I turned to indies years ago and I'm not alone. I'm sure you've taken this into account with your analysis as well but indie games can't advertise or charge high prices like AAA games can and so they'll make up a small market segment even if they're qualitatively better. The truth is I think most AAA devs, or at the very least AAA publishers, don't care at all about the games they make, and it shows in the quality of the final product. Slide 7, which shows 2023 games you say should've saved the industry from decline, show several franchises that have been milked so dry, there is no love in them.

Aye, it is quite ridiculous how much the AAA games budget has increased overtime and that's without marketing involved as well.

That's another thing, in the presentation it complains about budgets rising but a lot of it is advertising which 1) is a blight on the earth and 2) shouldn't be that necessary for AAA titles to begin with.

You should have read the replies of Turkish people about Los Angeles fires... Mostly about how they deserved it and it was God's punishment.

Then we had a hotel fire yesterday here which caused more deaths than entire Los Angeles fires...
