Depends a bit on the rare earth and ore in question. Considering a lot of strong mineral acids are used for processing, it mostly yields tonnes of highly toxic, corrosive slurry, which is mostly extremely bad for the environment.

If your unit is made out of wood, concrete or other normal building materials, it would definitely dissolve your whole unit though .
