I've got an idea for multiplayer mod that I would like to (attempt to) make... but don't have a clue where to begin, as I not only have no experience with making a source mod, I also have practically no experience playing source mods either.
I've had a brief look at some documentation... but there's just so much info out there, I don't know where to begin. D:

I've got a few friends on Steam that might be able to help (they are the guys who make PVK2).

The initial version would be very basic, so I'm hoping to do it myself.
I would for the most part use existing and/or placeholder assets to nail down the actual game mechanics. I've got some ideas for expanding in the future, where I probably would need some help, but I want to get the basics nailed first. Apart from nothing else, I don't want to drag people into a doomed project.

So what exactly do you need help with?

We'll I guess I just need general pointers. Some good 'My first multiplayer mod' tutorials would be handy.

If I actually get around to doing something, I'll also need at least 6 people (including myself) to help test the mod... but that's where you guys come in.

That would be telling! Don't want to ruin the surprise.

It's based on a game a friend and I invented at school, which we used to play most lunch times. It was an extremely fun game, and I think it would work quite well as a multiplayer mod.
It involves asymmetrical teams, which seems to be all the rage these days and that's all that you're getting out of me.

EDIT: And on an unrelated note: http://www.quantum-rush.net/
Got invited to a closed beta on YouTube because of my WipEout videos. Looks pretty awesome. Obviously takes a lot from WipEout but it has some interesting additions. The open canyon track looks awesome... It's one of the things that I always wished WipEout would have done.

In the future why are all the sports deadly? When did health and safety magically disappear?
