Current models about the origins and the fate of the universe may very well be flawed and there might be a God somewhere out there (just like there might be a spaggetti monster, who knows)
So even though people who try to convert others to their religion can be irritating, trying to prove your point with half-baked scientific opinions is not much different than quoting a holy book. And the discussion is almost always futile.
