The special edition was released a year~ after the original and contains additional content. I don't think there's anything special about the packaging (other than being different artwork to the original), but it was only released in Europe and is pretty rare, which is why it's so expensive.

I bought the normal edition a few years ago before I new about the special edition.

There are 8 additional tracks from the previous 2 games and 2 more from the Japanese WipEout 3. There are also a whole bunch of fixes from the original game too.

Is it worth £75 more than the original? No.

But everyone agrees it is significantly better than the original, and I'm unlikely going to get it for cheaper.
