Been watching Last of Us game movie. Only half way through but i'd say series did a great job with it, even better in most cases.

The TV show did a fantastic job of adapting the game and was generally pretty faithful. The main story difference was Bill and his backstory, and that was definitely far superior in the show - Partly because it wasn't really possible to tell that backstory without just doing a 1 hour cutscene, which obviously wouldn't work.

The TV show cut back a lot on the encounters, which was definitely the right call. You need them all in the game, otherwise it's not much of a game, but Joel would be a sociopath if that was in the TV show. I do think they over-corrected a bit too much though, and there definitely should have been more infected, etc. It makes the safe zones seem kind of silly when things are seemingly so relatively safe outside them.

Overall I prefer the game. I'm sure, in part because it's the first version I experienced, but the game also is also twice the length~ and has more room to breath. While no major plot points were cut from the TV show, everything did feel just a little rushed.

Also, the tendrils were dumb and I don't know why they changed it from spores. They did nothing interesting with it.

Actually it makes more sense. If it could spread with spores, then everyone would be infected or have to wear gas mask all the time. Except perhaps snowy regions.

Yes, and they do where gas masks in the game. Infected only release spores when they have been infected for a while which produce certain areas/buildings difficult to traverse because of the spores. It added tension in the game that was missing in the TV show. There was not only the risk of getting scratched, but also the risk of your mask coming off or becoming damaged.

Tendrils definitely don't make sense, considering what this is based off.

It also created a nice dynamic where Ellie was able to enter spore infested areas without a gas mask, but everyone else did

Not sure what that's referring to... Unless they are referring to a scene that was cut? It doesn't significantly change the story, but arguably gives greater context to what happens at the end. On the other hand, there was a minor moment in the TV show that wasn't in the game just before where the scene would have appeared, so I think overall the context didn't change too much.

Wish i played the game before watching the series But it is getting released on PC after the series season finale...

And god damn it, should have bought Resident Evil 4, now they increased the price
