Let's say cheaply made compared to the prices they're asking. It's especially bad when you consider their peripherals.

If you think that's bad... There's this company which, like a lot of companies, has asset tags put on all on the company provided to users. Except they used 3d stickers with a bump.
Long story short, they sent out over 100 units with the stickers next to the trackpad on MBPs and all of them arrived with broken screens lol.

I genuinely believe that consoles are the main reason that the gaming industry's standards have fallen so low. It infects many games, even otherwise good ones, to their very core, it's painful to see.

It is all about work ethic. It is natural for them to want and try to milk as much money from a title as possible. But it should be done in a way that also respect the players.

Capcom does it greatly. Just check all the reviews about RE 2-3 and 4 remakes. And how amazing Monster Hunter World is (no, it is because you suck, not the game )

Shitty publishers trying to maximise profits don't ruin the industry with their kiddie standards, crappy control schemes, and substandard performance. We wouldn't need to lower the standards of games if developers didn't have to cater to console players and controllers, which simply perform inadequately for many types of games.

It's the same thing with mobile games, which are also dragging down the standards of games, but at least mobile games tend to have the decency to stay on mobile and not act like they're real games, i.e. on par with PC. The adjustments and compromises we've had to make in order to make games playable and runnable on consoles has been holding back game development for decades, and dragging games down in the process. The damage consoles have wreaked on the FPS genre alone is almost inconceivable, and the genre visibly still hasn't recovered from it to this day. The RTS genre has been all but wiped out by the march of consoles, and all because controllers are so crappy.

The damage is perhaps not so visible when you largely play on console, but from the perspective of a hardcore PC player, especially in games with cross-platform play, it's unbelievable. I've been playing video games for over 30 years and it's shameful to see what's happened to the industry.

You could argue that shitty publishers try to maximise profits by also selling on consoles, but if you took away consoles, that would fix the problem, whereas it wouldn't if you took away the publishers.
