I'd just like to take this opportunity to say: Font designers that don't make the text vertically centred can go die in a fire.

Vertically centred within the line. Here is an example of a font I'm working with at the moment. Both red boxes are the same size, and the text is technically in the centre of the button despite there being 4px extra whitespace on the bottom. The characters within the font itself aren't vertically aligned properly so it looks like it's not in the centre of the box.

Looks like a web problem to me. Change the baseline

The only way to 'fix' this is to put different amounts of top and bottom padding, which then breaks if the font is ever changed, or even if the font fails to load and it uses a fallback font.

This font is called Epilogue, and we're using this font because this is the font that the designer picked, and the designer doesn't give a shit, since it's trivial for them to offset it.

It's not unique to this font though. There are so many damn fonts set up like this.
