Although, I think I do prefer here even with the noise, the one thing I immediately notice visiting any medium/large size city (500k+ people) anywhere else in the world is the distinct lack of wildlife. It's oddly depressing having humans as the only living thing outside.

Never really see spiders where I am (3km from city), and the few that are around are in trees and shit where they eat all the more annoying bugs (cockroaches, mosquitoes). Unlike spiders which leave you alone, those will actually go out of there way to invade your personal space. When I was in Europe I got bitten by more mosquitoes in a week there than in an entire season here.

For snakes you just need to follow Pokemon rules: stay out of the tall grass
