Mechs being over-rated is an opinion, not fact.
A car or a mech would be nice, and I think he meant Signatures. Not actual vehicles.

yeah the adapted version, usually refers to giant-humanoid robots, although the actual meaning just refers to mechanical objects...

Very True. There's just something about Robots with Legs rather than Treads that just fascinates me to no end. Although having Robots with Treads for Feet is also extremely cool imo.
I suggest Googling "Armored Core", "Mecha", "Gundam" and possibly "Exosuit" if you choose to partake in this venture.

It's face rockage in my opinion. 
I like the mech dude. The hot and cold is awesome too. Just a bit of advice, maybe you could add a bit more transition from cold to hot. (Meaning it just sorta fades in and out instead of the void you have.) Other then that it's great.

The border really lets this Sig down imo.
The green contrasts too much with the orange and red.
The background is Render > Clouds?
Perhaps you should experiment with that, change it into something cool like flames.
