It looks like a modern version of Arkanoid Oo .

EDIT: in fact I think I got it, Arkanoid Returns.

It was the enemies at the top of the level that gave it away. I played the original Arkanoid a lot when I was young but it was the only Breakout game I ever played that had enemies in it. The coke-can shaped powerup also helped.

Anyway, next shot, freshly captured:

Oh Skyroads... such a simple premise, and yet so difficult to finish... and then you get to the christmas edition D: Don't really know why you'd have to obscure the gravity meter text, but oh well

Correct :P . A classic game with nice music and devilishly hard levels, it's a great old game :P .

The reason that I blocked out the text is that text like "grav-o-meter" and "jump-o-master" can give away the game because it's very easy to google text like that. I always avoid having in names and text that you can google.

Ah, I didn't remember the gravity meter had that specific a name... guess I mostly concentrated on not blowing up or falling into the abyss

(Yes scope it's a part of the battletech franchise, but too general an answer, considering there is a genesis/snes game called battletech. sorry)

I had that game on some old CD compilation, and it was sitting in my mind every time it was my turn to post a game here. I just completely forgot the name :P

Mechcommander was released inbetween MechWarriors 2 and 3. The predecessors to the MW games were Crescent Hawk's Inception('88) and CH's Revenge('90), both of which were some of the earliest games by Westwood, with CHR being one of the early RTSes. The first MechWarrior game was made by Dynamix, though, who later went to make the Earthsiege games with somewhat similar gameplay to the Mechwarrior games.

That compilation wouldn't be called "Dominator" by any chance? About 50 DOS and 50 Win3.x games?

Alias wins! (although you didn't get the full name).

It was the heat meter that gave it away wasn't it?
