I think that your turret is too small.

It is better, however I think you could go larger, still. I'd also do something about the MG turret. Doesn't seem to suit the design too much.

Nice tank Shah, I recognize the render.

Hmm indeed the MG is bad-looking and just detracts the model as a whole. I think you should do something like the one on the M60.

Render with skylight, advanced lighting on and a plane underneath, itll bring out your models more

Your turrets are tiny compared to the chassis, and you choose to have some random unnecessary details that can just be skinned on, such as the grills on top of the track cover parts

IIRC, gmax has no skylight. One of the reason I switched to 3dsmax.

i plan to model the MG similarly to that of the BTR-60 though, and i do not plan for the model to be skinned. just for fun. though, thanks for the rendering tip

edit: i hate my comp. i try to edit, and 3dsmax lags for hell knows how long. then it hangs. :D

Nice looking tank there, though I still reckon you could work on the MG turret a little bit mate, seems a little too long for what it is, and genuinely not fitting of the whole tank. Tbh, I'd just go without it, it's quite obvious this is an Apocalypse Tank, and it's such a well known design that I wouldn't worry with it :P

I think the tusk missile launchers shouldn't face inwards, looks less menacing.

AZZKIKR's Photo AZZKIKR 01 Dec 2009

ah, thanks for the comments. so perhaps, maybe i will shorten the MG, redesign the MG turret? however, if i try to make the missiles face outward, it wouldnt look nice though, as the missiles will hit the turret, as shown by the 2nd latest render. however, if i exclude the mg turret, wat do u ppl suggest?

It might look good, maybe give it a coaxial or two. :bestpost:

You should experiment with it and show us the results, ze. Then compare which one looks better...etc.

Epic man, just epic. I wonder when it'll get skinned :P Although the cannons look a bit too long/funny :P

Nice rendering always helps :P

Lower those rocket pods so the gun turret can shoot a full 360 the way around. Also either widen the treads or make the wheels slimmer as they shouldnt stick out

No one's said a thing about a couple of items, so I'll take the bull by the horns and weigh in. Firstly, I'm not quite sure about those 3 sewer pipes sticking straight out the back of the tank. I understand that they're supposed to be exhaust tips, but for a tank design that's all angles, something circular like a exhaust throws it all off. Now if those same pipes were mounted on top of where the engine would be mounted, and made to where they were just sticking out, then the design would work a bit better. However, as of now, they look rather silly and disconnected from the tank.

The treads are too thin. There is no other way for me to express it, other then the fact that the road wheels look like a foot-long hot dog sticking out of the bun. In short, there is too much overhang, and it can be handled one of two ways. One being that the treads are simply widened to the width of the wheels, or the wheels themselves are made the width of the track. In all honesty though, the track should probably be just a bit wider than the wheels.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the way the missile pods are mounted. Yes, I'm aware that once the missiles are launched, they can correct themselves right/left/up/down, but as part of a design and the overall appearance of the tank, the inward facing pods make it seem a bit cross-eyed. Perhaps mount the pods further aft on the turret, behind the leading edges. Doing this will also thin out the width of the turret. If you would like that coaxial MG on the roof of the turret to rotate 360 degrees, might I suggest moving that aerial to a more suitable location? Perhaps on the back of the turret, and angled rearward.

I'm referring to the missiles from the missile pods, unless those cluster of tubs on the sides of the turret are ornate smoke grenade launchers. I'm not suggesting anything about the missiles themselves, but rather the apparatus that launches them. Move the tubes aft, or in other words, straight back on the turret.
