What version of Max do you use Pav3d? |8

And can Max support DDS? I never had DDS textures working in max 9... :|

I use 3ds max 9. Iirc there is a plugin for 3ds max 7/8 that allows you to use .dds files.

N cheers Chyros, I may need to re-render that one.

Nice 8|
I like everything but the faint text over the top of the sig, it looks a bit unneeded.

Also, are you three times the dimension of the original Pav3d? :)

Custom colt, I think it was modelled off the 1911 model.

Featuring engraving, pearl grips and gold screws.

This isnt just my Hardballer slightly changed, its completely re-modeled and re-skinned.

It all looks fantastic until you get to the grip, not sure what to say here, it really throws the entire texture off :P.

I didnt want just a basic grip texure, I wanted the tackiness of pearl grips :P

Perhaps you could have done it in a better manner? No offense, just saying.

You love Colts, duntcha? :P

Seriously, it looks pretty amazing. The pearl effect wasn't badly replicated, but somehow it's more obviously modeled/skinned compared to the rest of the weapon. Hard task getting that right, I imagine.

Cool beans!

Really awesome stuff. I think you should move onto something a little less modern day. Maybe a Steam Punk gun or perhaps something Sci-Fi?

Noooo, make an AK-47 :D!!!

I will do one day, even tho everyone who's ever modeled anything has made one already :P

@Kalo: I may re-render it in that case.
@Aaron: The fruity colors are from the pearl texture.

N thanks for your comments as always guys 8|

Just so we're clear, I love the texture, its just the grips that make me go "EHHH". But have you thought of showing a render of the gun in its respectable pieces? magazine taken out, chamber pulledb ack ETC.

I think you should make a Neostead 2000.

j0shh's Photo j0shh 28 Jun 2010

Make an old dueling flintlock pistol, with an amazing wooden texture! We'll get some old school manly weapons in here.

Or, try a Tommy gun (Thompson Submachine gun) for 20's gangster nostalgia.

If you've played C&C: Renegade, I'd recommend a Personal Ion Cannon.

If you need more ideas, I'm full of 'em :P

I don't think anyone would run out of idea when it's about modeling weapons :P

Its really hard to find good neostead ref pics, plus its kind of a boring model imo.

Im working on something atm, a gun that is like a right of passage when modeling guns :P

As I was too lazy to post on FB earlier, the modeling and skinning is flawless, but I for one am bored of seeing this gun |8
