Structures are a different story. In the TT version, rarely are structures used for the game (other than maybe as part of a diorama or scenery. Units on the other hand are the bread and butter of the TT game. Every unit you see in DoW, save for a few of the builder units, can be found in the TT version. Obviously, there are a lot of units that are "missing" from DoW, but for the most part, everything that walks, rolls, and shoots is in the TT game. The only "structure" that's really in the TT game is the Monolith. Then again, the Monolith is a Jack of all trades. It produces units, transports them, functions as a battle fortress and can even teleport. The Obelisks the Necrons erect are based off the Spire, which can sometimes be found in the TT game as part of the scenery.

Yes, it would be nice if Relic took the initiative to make an air choice for the Necron (and believe me, I wish they would), but I don't think they will for some of the reasons I've stated.

I'v seen a video where someone from the Relic dev team said all races will get air units added.

Now correct my if i'm wrong but i beleive "all races" doesn't mean necrons are excluded
And finaly adding air units to all races and not the necrons would simply be absurd not to mention if they realy didn't add any air units for the Necs then i'd like to see how Necs would deal with them having nearly no true ranged units.

I've heard the converse to that statement, where nearly all other forums dealing with just the DoW game have stated that the Necrons were being left out in the cold as far as air support went. To be fair though, the Immortal do shoot at air and have a rather respectable range (though they are the only infantry choice that has a fair amount of range). Only the Heavy Destroyer and the Monolith have range comparable to other race's ranged units.

As I mentioned before, I would love to see the Necrons get air choices, but with conflicting statements I'm not quite sure they'll get any.

@Hunter: Do you by chance have a link to that video of the Relic representative stating that information? I'd like to check it out if you do  .

I don't think necrons will get aircraft because that would piss of to manny TT gamers because it wouldn't fit necrons "original" story, but maybe they are adding that IMBA appocalipse necron cannon^^

I assume you mean the Pylon, which is rather enormous. For the TT game, it dwarfs the Monolith, and the Monolith in-game is fairly large. Still, with every other race getting something from this new expansion (as well as two more races), it would only be fair to add at least one thing to the Necron's arsenal.

Maybe they can't include named characters, but the Sisters of Battle better have a decent "ultimate" unit. Something comparable to the Baneblade/Avatar/Daemon Prince/Monolith/Hammerhead/Squigoth/Land Raider is a must.

For the scale the game currently works with, I don't think a titan would work too well. Conversely, the Imperial Guard is getting aircraft, and it's the Marauder no less. To add a titan on top of that would make the Imperial Guard, not the Necrons, the most OP late game race.

I never really considered the Greater Knarloc to be an ultimate unit. Though, to its credit, I do rarely use it, so I can't speak on it as I would the Hammerhead. It really depends on which structure you chose for the Tau when you want a Relic unit. It's either the Knarloc or the Hammerhead, the choice is yours.

The Knarloc is the ultimate unit...its pretty much like the Squig' except a bit more manuvarble though it has a lil bit less hit points

It has more damage aswell, IIRC. And @ nuker, the Hammerhead is not a relic unit, neither is the Knarloc limited to the silent hunter (IIRC), so you can go Mont'Ka and still get a Greater Knarloc. However, the Greater Knarloc gets an immense HP boost (something like 10%) from advanced metallurgy, which only is available with the Kroot path.

the only unit choose in the paths of the Tau is:
Crisis Suit and Hammer head
or
"that dogs" and "that orangutan"

th "giant chiken" its for both, you need to build the kroot building

yeah, however the kroot path thingy (keep forgetting the name as I never use it) gives you aswell 2 good upgrades, the metallurgy one, adding a LOT of HP and another one I forgot.

@ Nuker most of the structures and builder units in DC were designed by relic themselfs why do you think they can't do the same with airborne units for the necrons ?

They've said that Necrons won't get any air units. Far as I'm concerned designing your own builder units and structures is fine, but units themselves should stick to what's already there.

If that's gonna be the case i'm going to be realy eager to see how they are going to make necrons fight air units.

Immortals can target air units, and IIRC, the Necron Lord does the same. As far as structures that attack air units, they might need to add another structure to do that.

If nothing is done to the Necrons, then Relic has listened too intently to every forum n00b about the Necrons being "OP". It sounds like they're getting screwed :dope: .

TBH, I'm sure Relic will get things straight. 1 thing about necrons is that with the right upgrades they can teleport a lot of things, deep strike things like flayed ones and so on, so at least transport aircraft for them isn't exactly necessary. And if they should get strong enough AA, fighting necrons with planes will be simply futile, so you'll fight them on ground like in DC, so I don't think them having no aircraft will be that bad.

Necrons don't need transport anything for one simple reason: the Monolith. It's a mobile fortress/factory. While in the mobile fortress mode, you can still create Warriors and such, which is very handy should you still have requisition and squad/vehicle cap left :dope: .

Only Warriors, Flayed Ones and the Necron Lord can teleport (this is mentioned in the WH40k Codex). Warriors and Flayed Ones have to teleport to structures, while the Necron Lord can teleport anywhere he pleases. Flayed Ones can deep strike anywhere on the map, so long as there's sight to that area.

Right now, the Necron are powerful beyond belief. However, with just about every race getting airpower, I don't believe a race as slow and methodical as the Necron can keep up. With aircraft, the strategy of the game is going to change and since Necron are slow movers, they'll be easy pickings for large AoE weapons (missles and artillery).

I honestly hope I'm wrong about the Necron being screwed over/"forgotten". But until Soul Storm comes out, this is the way I feel.

Id actually like them having no air units. They're like the ultimate antagonists, they're dead, fear no one and can come back to life - and to be honest they're quite feared on the ground, itd be a bit silly to see an air unit for them so Id love to see super powerful AA from them.

Yea me too, necron air power would suck...

I'd like to see reviveable Destroyers to balance them and maybe some kind of grave guard.

Tomb Spiders are the grave guard. While the Necrons "slept" in their 60 million year stasis, the Tomb Spiders kept watch over them. This is why the Tomb Spiders can collect the motionless bodies of fallen Necron to "reanimate" them.

Necrons aren't really "dead". The metal bodies they're encased in is "living". Pariahs are the closest to "human" the Necrons come, since Pariahs are a eerie mix of flesh and living metal. The Necrontyr's brain has ceased most of its functions and is now controlled by the C'tan. They technically have no morale, but they also have no initiative, so you have to tell them to do everything (something that's true in the table top game as well).

If anything, I'd love to see the Necrons get the Deceiver, possibly as an ability for the Destroyer Lord, or as an alternative for the Necron Lord.
