Sunshine 9/10

A brilliant, if very morbid sci-fi thriller set in the distant future. The premise of this film is that the sun is dying and humanity built a spaceship armed with the most powerful bomb ever created and the crew must journey to the sun and detonate the bomb. It's filled with action, amazing special effects, and a very haunting and chilling plot. Highly recommended, it's one of the few very good sci-fis I've seen lately.

Wanted - 7/10

Everything was nice, but I just didn't like the plot or the main character. Might be a bit subjective, but he can't act for his life.
I'm gonna need more rope...

10,000 BC 4/10

Possibly even more historically inaccurate than the Flinstones ... <_<
The visual affects are, granted, eye-popping but the flimsy story and the wooden acting just kills the film.

Zoolander

Obviously a classic; the acting is great, the lines are hilarious, and the cameos are abound. :P

The Hills have Eyes II - 9/10

A great sequel, following in the footsteps of 28 Weeks Later... it's a sequal, but you don't really have to see the first to enjoy it. And like I said in IRC, I don't know which is worse, some of the gore scenes, the rape scene or they guy getting hit in the balls with a sledgehammer. D:

EDIT:

Runaway Jury 9.5/10

Gene Hackman, Dustin Hoffman, John Cusack, and Rachel Weisz star in this very solidly done interpretation of a Grisham novel. I won't give away too much of the plot but it is absolutely fascinating. It's also great to see Hackman and Hoffman together slugging it out. The film is very intelligent and will have your pulse racing at moments.

I'd agree with you on all of your last three movies Beta - good thoughts all.

Equillibrium - 7/10 - Cristian Bale when he was young and impressionable - shooting everyone and everything in sight and slicing a few guys up as well. Solid action and well filmed, let down slightly by a poor storyline that led to the fights... Ends with a thoroughly awesome gun battle tho!

AUTOMATIC PISTOLS FTW!
Man, those gun fights topped the Matrix. The best part was when he cut off the black guy's face with the katana. i was like "omfg, pwnd to the max"

Anyways, Equilibrium 6.5/10

Literally, mind-blowing action with a very interesting premise. Bale is ever flexible and he is great in this role. Taye Diggs and Angus Macfadyen are deliciously evil.
It's a shame, like AjPod said, that the plot wasn't on par with the rest of the film and it was pretty much a rehash of other sci-fi films.

8/10

This is the only one of the series that I had read the book of, and I thought it was made very well onto the large screen.

Hancock..... hmmm - not good springs to mind.

The movie begins with a bang, and results in a reasonably entertaining first half an hour of smashing and otherwise causing destruction. It then settles into a period of redemption that Will Smith pull of quite nicely, and is good..... However, as of a a very plot-revealing segment just over half-way through the movie, it teeters on the edge of becoming yet another super-hero movie, and hen catastrophically dies, trying to be too clever for itself. The end sequence helps it out a bit in that it's very dramatic, and quite entertaining to watch - but it's as if the writier were suddenly changed half-way though the movie, then brought back for the last ten minutes.... all in all I'd say 5/10 - there are worse, but I'd go and see Batman if I was choosing again in two weeks....

I didn't even see Cock, but it looks kinda bad. I mean, it's just COMPLETELY REDICULOUS how Will Smith can stop a train with one hand. I mean, it just doesn't look very cool.

Anyway. Judge Dredd.

I kinda liked this movie. It's a great sci-fi flick. Sylvester Stallone is great at acting, and my favorite scene was wear Dredd and Rico go into the inciderator. Also, I love how Judge Dredd's pistol has a "Double Whammy" function. :P I wish I had a gun like that.

I saw this film a while back but I rewatched it ...
Grave of the Fireflies 100/10

Honestly, if you guys are to see one film during your lifetimes, make it this film. This is a Japanese anime film made by a man who collaborated with the famous Hayao Miyazaki and Ghibli Studios in the past. It takes place during WWII and it's from a Japanese perspective. No, it's not anti-American or pro-Japanese or anything, rather the film takes the viewpoint of two children, one a teen and his younger sister who must deal with the loss of their parents due to the war, and struggle to survive. Again, this film isn't pro-Japanese or anti-American; it shows the unnecessary suffering of innocent civilians in war.

Don't expect this film to be a feel-good, hunky dory film ... this film is weighty and will depress you and will leaden your heart after seeing what the poor kids have to go through. The final scene in this film is downright powerful and I had tears in my eyes. This film is a very touching and at times, it will break your heart. Honestly, if you guys don't feel for the kids or be somewhat depressed or sad by the end of the film, something is wrong with you lol.

Frankly, this is one of the best films ever made. For all you people who haven't seen it, you are honestly missing a great piece of film making. It is a beautiful, moving, heart-breaking, touching masterpiece.

Never knew it was also in 3D, didn't think they still made those.

Anyway Hellboy 2, 6/10.

Kind of entertaining for explosions and fighting but when you look at the movie, you see some of problems with the plot.

A masterpeice, 100% agree with u there

Here are a few Ive seen recently

Hancock

5/10
Like Aj said, an entertaining first half hour, which, everything u expect from hancock happens (he gets drunk, fights some bad guys, sobers up, fights more bad guys, with jokes thrown in here n there)

But then it settles into a RIDUCULOUS plot "twist", which wasnt even explained properly

The choice of bad guy was crap (he cant do anything to hancock anyway, WHY TRY?!)

Yeah, good premise, crappy execution, a waste of a Will Smith film

PS: Prepare for the major WTF moment when a tornado appears out of NOWHERE near the end, just to try to excite the scene...

Kung Fu Panada

8/10
Fun film, not really "the other shrek from dreamworks" but pretty good

The characters of the furious five (the various animals, based on kung fu styles u see in the trailer) were a bit overlooked, jackie chan might aswell have not turned up to the recording studio as he said about 3 lines in the entire film

The main characters were great however Is there nothing Dustin Hoffman cant do? seriously, he's great as the rat thing master, and I loved Po's father

Adulthood

0/10

AAAAAAND THE WINNER OF THE MOST STUPIDIST FILM OF THE YEAR IS ISSSSSSSSS...
Why?

What I guess the director is trying to bring across: Teenagers, do not join gangs, carry a knife and do crimeful (a word?) things

What actually comes across: JOIN CRIME AND YOU GET FREE BOOBIES!

I'm serious here, this guy holds up a couple with a knife, steals all their money and gets the girl to lift her top
I'm not sure if people are aware, but London has become stab capital, where every child born in the 90's came out wearing a hood and carrying a knife
This film is not helping, it just shows how easily you can get away with anything.

Now an actual review of this POS film:

Through-out the entire film, these horrible, unlikeable (for want of a stronger word) characters just go around doing what they want, and you are meant to feel SORRY FOR THEM?! No.

The acting is just ridiculous, its all tough man faces and stupidly delivered lines, if you are not from the UK you will think these guys all have serious mental issues.

The plot is stupid, doesnt make any sense how he "sets up" the bad guy at the end, he just does.

No just, no Noel Clarke (the director and star of), go and stab yourself in every orifice.

Batman: The Dark Knight

10/10

Does not suffer from "Sequel Syndrome" and Heath Ledger made the perfect joker. Definitely one of this summers blockbusters and holds up to that title. A must watch if your a fan of the first movie and especially if you liked the Dark Knight series. Truly an awesome film.

Wanted
This movie is so full of Bullshit; it's unimaginable. The way everything twists and the reflexes ahhh! But at least the plot isn't lame in fact it's very good and James McAvoy and in fact the whole cast are all very solid actors. The direction is excellent. If it weren't for all the hyper-exaggerated action, I would give the movie a 9 instead it gets a 7.5.

(from 2000)

7.5/10, pretty interesting and confusing all at the same time. When I finished it, I thought "wow, these guys are all assholes". Not bad but acting wasn't the greatest but style was nice.

The Dark Knight: (caution may contain spoilers, but i guess this entire thread could...?)

7/10, it was very good, steller (sp?) cast probs makes it one of the best films of the year so far...

Could see alot of heath ledger scenes could have been re-done/extended, tis a shame about that as it causes some parts of the story line to disjoint, for example: commisioner gordon just telling the joker "Harvey dent has been kidnapped" makes you think "oh really? Nothing hinted that :S" , you'll get what i mean when u see it :D

But some great bits to look out for, especially when harvey dent FINALLY becomes two-face, and ofcourse there are some golden joker moments

Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle

7.5/10, it's funny, characters are likable, and you laugh coming out of it.

Harold and Kumar Escape Guantanamo Bay

6.5/10, not as funny as the first one as it relies much more on racial sterotypes, most of the situations are impossible while the the first, most of the situations are unlikely but possible. Doesn't have the same charm as the first one. I may have rated it higher had I not watched the first one.
