Flood Control in SYD

JJ's Photo JJ 20 Feb 2008

I don't think posting in SYD should affect flood control. It's annoying trying to spam and be useful at the same time.

The rule for flood control is global, it can't be controlled between individual forums.

What Alias said + it is there to prevent spambots and shock images. These can be posted in SYD as well. Sorry to say you are going to have to live with it as it isn't going away.

Flood Control disables fast Posting.
After a Post you made, you need to wait 1 Minute in order to make a new Post.

Yet every even slightly large forum has it.

It'd be nice if the time that you needed to wait was cut in half, even with ~15 seconds it is pretty hard to spam a forum.

I'm down with 30. Why? You get time to make a post that includes words and not just shock images, yet posting shock images is still delayed. Win, win. Besides, shock images aren't that bad.

I'm still looking for a way to scrub my brain of shock images, I don't really want anyone else having to deal with that.

what are Shock images
Quote

Wizard's Photo Wizard 26 Feb 2008

Pretty much what it says on the tin. Posted images, usually p0rn (there are some specific types used, but to save further questions I won't elaborate) posted to basically disrupt a forum and cause mental anguish. As Dauth said above there are some images that you can't get out of your head. All of this images are not appropriate for forums and least of all when there are younger members viewing. They are sick, twisted and most of which I wouldn't wish on my worst enemies. Flood control helps us to minimise the potential amount of these we might get by holding back your posting rights to specific intervals. Giving us a chance to catch images inbetween posts. Hence the term Flood Control.

You know, I'd really rather names weren't even mentioned since now some unfortunatly curious people woill look for them.

Either way tho, Flood Control is staying everywhere.

Yes but right now it is rather long, a whole minute? Cutting it down some would be nice since it's rather annoying when you try to post and get a "Please wait another minute" message.

Sorry guys but it's there for a very good reason. Reducing it to 30 seconds is like arguing to take it out altogether and as Dauth has said, that won't be happening. As big a pain as you may find it in SYD it's there to stop spamming, so it's doing it's job nicely.

Two girls one cup is NOT a shock image, it's a video. Shows how much y'all know. :(

Anyway, shouldn't parents, and not forum moderators and administrators, be responsible for the actions of their children?

This isn't the place to define TG1C and if you want to talk net censorship use the PC.

But this directly ties into it. So if you wish to move this topic there, be my guest.
Sure, there's a tradeoff between posting time and security, but at the current position of a minute, there is maximum security, little posting ability. We should be moving for a more efficient post:security ratio.

I was referring to the responsibility of parents and the definition of 2G1C. You can talk admins/mods jobs here if you like. My post was rather confusing, sorry

@ Topic in question: I have yet to encounter these problems and I have been quite high on the list of todays top posters for the last 2 weeks. I don't see it as a problem and as it is doing it's job I see no reason to change it. Few converstations move soo fast that your point is redundant inside a minute. Sure you may repeat something, but then if Flood Control is off you would have that anyway if someone beats you to the punch. That minute you want shaved, can be the difference between me finding a picture of something on this forum that is shaved, or a 10 year old. The trade off is fine.
