Indeed, the sound guys should be given a medal!
Also it reminds me of BF2, open enviorements, teamwork, lack of camping (well the last bit isn't BF2
).
What i'm really happy about is that its coming to PC with extra stuff, the way it should be

There is virtually no camping in bf2 or 2142 if you compare any BF game to any Call of Duty game.

Well i wasn't comparing it to the COD games because they are very very different (Apart from being set in the same times and having the same weapons). COD = Deathmatch BF = Capture Point
Camping does happen a bit in BF2, but what i mean is that with the destruction system camping should be rather hard to do as you could just blow a hole in the side of the campers spot

And dachamp, there isn't a date for the Demo yet, but seen as the full game is coming out at the start of march, I'd say the demo will be out around mid Feb.

I think this has gone straight to the top of my wanted list. Haven't had a chance to listen to the clip but it just looks stunning.

The vehicle gameplay looks amazing and I keep wanting to like this game but the guns and their animations look like they were made ten years ago and really fugly and the game premise sounds like I would completely hate it
. So I'm very curious about it but kind of afraid to be disappointed too.

I'm just wondering in what way do the animations look like they are 10 years old? I thought they looked great.
And they "Completely reskinned the weapons and scopes for much improved visual quality." since the PS3 beta, as it says in this change log.

Many of the shooting/reloading animations I saw looked worse than games that are about ten years old, like Red Faction or something.

What?
The animations look great, I really dont know what you mean.
If theyre going to be anything like the bad company ones theyll be amazing. When reloading you can really feel how they yank out the magazine and slam a new one back in, or with some weapons have to smack the top down. Better than MW2's unnaturally fluid animations imo, those look robotic.

all over the vid: running/walking with the gun gives it this really strange sway, as if they were just rhythmically swinging the weapon left and right.
1:40 looking into this scope consists of the screen gradually turning to black instead of actually bringing the scope up to your eye to look through it.
1:48 kind of like a CoD knifing animation except the guy almost stabs himself in the face.
2:58 you can't even see what he's doing here, looks like flicking some imaginary switch five centimetres to the left of the gun.
3:12 the scoping animation here makes the scope look like a homing missile that jams itself into the player's eye at high speed.
3:22 he couldn't have reloaded this thing in a more static fashion; he puts in the missile at a speed that doesn't even vary a little during the whole animation, and the same goes for closing the launcher
3:33 scoping here doesn't even seem to move the gun, it's just "lights out" and he's instantly staring through the scope.
3:37 this happens all over the vid: going ADS into iron sights basically teleports the sights, perfectly aligned, right in front of you. You can't even see the weapons move into ADS at all, it just happens instantly. No animation of any kind.
3:41 only the start of the XM8 reload, but you can clearly see him put his hand on the mag, just shake for a while, then yank it out at 900 km/s. Really robotic.
3:43. The guy pumping the shotgun looks nothing short of having a pneumatic arm. He holds the gun up for a while, then there is one frame with the pumper back, and the next frame it's right in front again, and then he lowers the shotgun again just like his left arm is a lever.
I could do this through the whole vid but I don't really have the time. But that's what's wrong in just the first few minutes IMO. Again, there's lots that looks great, but the gun thingies look really really off.

Do you like any game you play? Like at all? If you have this eye I can't really imagine you actually liking any game you purchase

And seeing as how Battlefields pretty famous for its Vehicles I'm not sure why you sound like you're surprised that it's vehicle oriented.
Also, Red Faction was awesome...

As for the vehicles: I never played any battlefield game so I have no way of knowing how big a part of the gameplay depends on vehicles. I heard somewhere it's not THAT big though, and that you can do well on foot too, which is good.

Vehicles are a big part of the BF series but you always needed to be on foot at one point. They tend to be easy enough to counter too. And they don't have retarded controls AFAIK ('xcept the helis sometimes
)

i, maybe.
also, you're not the only one who thinks like that about the animations so far. your detailed post pretty much sums up my exact same feelings. the feel wrong and clumsy, not cool at all to look at IMO.

I imagine they're like that to appeal to the masses. Not to a sect of people who knows a person never actually behaves or reloads like that. Just what I thought
is all, since a lot of people I know seem to actually like the games animations quite a bit.

Let me give you an example of what I mean. Consider the following two MP5 models I randomly found:

The left one obviously looks a lot better because this is kind of an exaggerated example. However, some people might find that the right one "looks good". Others, like me, find that it doesn't, and would prefer one that more time was put into, like the one on the left. Now if they'd upgrade the one on the right to the one on the left, even the people that though the right one looked good, would agree the left one is still better.

I don't see anything wrong with the animations but even if i did, it's always gameplay over graphics for me. Maybe the development team decided that the animations were great (which they are) and wanted to spend more time on making better maps and better gameplay, rather than redoing the animations for the niche audience of people who like gun animations to be perfect.
If the animations were terrible, then you would have some sort of argument, but at the moment it just seems like your nit picking.
