Battlefield 1943 and Battlefield: Bad Comp...

Kalo's Photo Kalo 24 Jan 2010

I really don't mind if he has a different opinion. Why exactly is everyone critical when companies do that? It does nothing and I can assure you it won't change any time soon. I think you're reading this wrong personally I really have no problem with Chryos except for the fact that he seems to be biased, and by that it's more like "You should try it before you knock it Chryos". I've tried MW2 and I uninstalled it a bit later after having my initial fun in all fairness. If I didn't respect Chryos opinion I'd be a lot more aggressive. The only time I really got agitated was with his little MP5 post (which I probably mis-interpeted).

Also, on the subject of pre-ordering for an advantage? There's little to none here. You get stuff everyone else can get just a little earlier but as any BF fan knows Gear doesn't make you. it's your team. Which is why I love Battlefield! I love being able to hop in with a couple of buddies and turn the tide of a massive battle with just the few of us.

Heh, they want to keep away newcomers to the series or something? 8|

Oh well, if the game is good enough, that shouldn't matter too much.

They locked all the stuff like that in previous games(You obv unlocked it later). It didn't keep new people away then I doubt it will now. You seem pretty open to poke jabs at the game but you've never actually tried a Battlefield game previously.
Look, I apologise for not liking some aspects of your game, OK? I'm not getting all angry just because you don't like MW2, am I?

If anything I'm heavily positively biased towards this game. I very much do my best to like it, even though it inherently contains significant gameplay elements that I really don't like. I can assure you that if there wasn't so many people here I'd like to play a good game with, I wouldn't have bothered in the first place and probably would have completely ignored this game altogether.

EDIT: also, and though you're definitely not the first person to do it wrong (more like the twentieth), it's "Chyros" :P .

Also, a day-one advantage can be a pretty massive one, still. On Christmas midnight, in MW2 for example, I got a whole bunch of nukes. Why? Because I was playing with nothing but people who had just gotten the game... and didn't have a Stinger yet to counter my Chopper Gunner. I choose to not mind it that much because in the end it won't matter, but don't tell me a day-one advantage can not be an advantage or anything. And something advertised as "significantly improved durability & significantly improved firepower" doesn't sound like it's not really advantageous.

Never once said I was angry.

But the scenario you just said happens all the time in just about every game...?

No, but your posts are very hostile whenever I have but the slightest comment on the game (even when I'm simultaneously praising it) which is quite annoying to be honest.

Squad rush details

With a vid!

Look at that m16 desert skin there near the start :O
I think thats an mp5 at 16 secs in, that wasnt in the previous one
and was that a FAL or something at 26 secs in? I cant make it out, there were no semi-auto assault rifles in the first either

Squad rush sounds a bit meh, I prefer the massive battles with loads of players

Sounds like a gamemode to be played with a few friends when you can't be bothered to deal with online play :P
I like it, even if it's not the gamemode i will be playing most of the time, it still looks good.

Whoo, cool vid 8| . Must say I'm not really sure what the gametype would be like but it strikes me as something extremely similar to MW2's Demolition gametype.

It looks like an MP5SD5 since it seems to have a round handguard and fixed buttstock. Would be sweet, I love MP5s 8| .

I couldn't make out the gun at all, you could just see an ACOG scope with M16-type bunny ear front sights. Can't it be an M16 in semi-auto or something?

Again nice vid. Though I am not to keen on 4v4 as a limited game type. I remain to be convinced on that, however, if some of you get your asses in gear and upgrade your PC's we might be able to have some FS games.

Probably an alternate firing mode in that case

That MP5 better have an HK slap animation, btw :P . I still haven't forgiven MW2 for not displaying the HK slap animation when you reload it (even though it's in the game) 8| .

HK slap?

I havent forgiven them for making it one of the worst guns in the game :P

It's the way you reload an MP5 (or G3). You pull back the bolt, put the little handle in the slot, refresh the mag and then slap the handle so it slams back forward.

Like four teams of four from what the interview said. I practically rejoiced when I heard that.

I'm game for that. I already meet the specs IIRC though.

EDIT : Wait, Squad Rush HURR DURR not Squad Deathmatch? I think I just accidentally.

I doubt there are any games out there that cause my rig any problems what so ever, or that there will be any for some considerable time. If this is available via Steam I'll have it at the start. If not a day or two after will be about right.

Let's get something together when it does, seems like there is plenty of support for it.

It's times like these when I wish I had a playable connection for this game :P
Ironically, in Canada, I only had my laptop which was ok for games like ZH and DoW and even some HL2 and L4D but this game would have brought it to its knees, but my connection was so amazing :P
Now here, I've got a PC that runs everything, but I lack a playable connection. In fact, I would be ok with my current speed if the PIN wasn't so absolutely retarded (in this case quite literally :P).

Contrary to what MW2 may have told you, the FAL and G3 are both capable of automatic fire in real life, and there are a lot of semi-auto weapons out there, too. And I doubt it's an FAL, or an M16 as Chyros said (the M16 front sight post doesn't curl nearly that far to the sides, it's actually fairly straight). I feel like I've seen that sight picture (from the front post cowitnessing the scope he's using) but I couldn't tell you were.

The sights may have been an M1A1's which kind of look like that. But that's quite an oldie, and this isn't the Vietnam era anymore :P .

If you check the leaked weapons list the M1A1 is included on it. So it would make sense...also...the G3 is in that video as well.
