Maybe it's because modern guns are designed to cut back on recoil? Though the older weapons should provide a kick as well.
I've seen some footage of an M60 - a full-size LMG firing the very heavy 7,62x52 mm round; firing it should kick it all over the place - have no recoil to speak of.

I haven't played it but I happen to know BF: Heroes had a recoil value of 0 for all weapons except the snipers. Maybe they've done the same here.

Agreed that thing should kick like a mule. But something like the ACR shouldn't. Then again, I'm unsure what guns are available.

It's a good game imho, but I'm not sure about buying it anymore.

I don't really like the map and the gamemode

There's more maps. There's also Conquest/Squadrush/Squad Deathmatch. 8|

OH REALLY??? :xD: The map isn't a problem as there will be other maps (only 8 though) I'm just a bit dissappointed by the overall gameplay (mostly balance, but I'm sure that will change)

And snipers seem at least a little OP at the moment.

TBH I think snipers are underpowered. You need two hits on a target unless its a headshot and the rate of fire of the M-24 (yeah I know there are unlockables) is so terribly slow that it's just impossible to fire 2 shots at one target. So unless you're an uber-headshot-pro sniping isn't that good imho.

Sniping is OP in the sense that they can have a Shotgun/AR C4/Mortar and stuff like that. but it's nothing terrible. They take a decent amount of skill with the bullet drop and all that jazz.

I wonder if I am missing something in this game. I am not an idiot when it comes to ADS'ing but there isn't a single thing I can do to get a kill in this game. I am fast learning that it's not for me.

If you are defending, sit there and shoot anything that moves with the mechanic class
If you are attacking, run there and shoot anything that moves with the mechanic class and destroy the M-COMS (WHERE ARE MY GOLD CRATES?!)

Wizard's Photo Wizard 31 Jan 2010

That's the point, shooting at shit doesn't seem to work 8| if it did I wouldn't have a problem. I can be creeping up on someone arming a M-Com with his back to me, unload the weapon into him, he gets up turns round and shoots me twice with a pistol and I die. And this is now, finally, on a non-laggy server.

maybe you're simply too used to a different way of aiming? (though imo this should be some kind of standard in all games).

Quite possibly. Would someone care to explain the difference in mechanics between BF:BC2 and MW2 for me please? This might help.

For Wiz specifically : Every gun works differently at different ranges you see, the guns like an LMG for example do not do as much damage if they are hipfired. there is also range penalties in effect at all times. If you want a class that can quickly disperse people at close range you should indeed go Engineer and use the XM8 Compact or the SCAR. If this does not work for you, you can easily go assault and use the XM8 which works efficiently at pretty much any god damn range you put it at. but remember that burst fire is the way to go for most ranges, full auto is more point blank. The F2000 also works but it runs out of ammo as fast as a prostitute runs out of her newly earned money. ALSO, M1a1 Thompson for great justice. all around good gun.

In my last full game of BC2 I managed 17 kills and 15 deaths, against a bunch of average to above-average players. While the COD games seem to be more of a matter of perfect aim and twitch shooting, the less precise and less "perfect" nature of the guns in BC2 kind of make the playing field a bit more even.

For example, getting the jump on someone would guarantee a kill in COD, while if you encountered a similar situation in BC2 your gun would probably be swaying and deviating even if you were ADS so they have a very good chance of turning around and shooting you back (assuming their aim hasn't become equally spastic).

Oh, and +1 to Kalo's post.

Suggestion, Aim at your sights even at close range and fire burst 8|

In Battlefield there are situations where you kill 5 people at the same time and situations where you attack from behind and still die.

hm? A shotgun replaces your sniper rifle IIRC... so what's the point?

I am not bothered about the skill level of my opponents, and I have probably been playing against average guys myself. I think the issue is not knowing the game and something that I have to say I don't like, having found it hella useful in MW2, is the lack of a proper kill cam. That really does help out people who aren't 'veterans'.

Ok, now that seems to be quite useful. So what weapons have burst fire mode and what ones don't? All of them? I've stuck to either Assault or Medic class so far, both seemingly ineffective at any range tbh. How much spread do the guns have in ADS? Based on the minimal amount I've played, I'd guess at quite a lot, given that I've lost at nearly every encounter.

It does appear to be useful. I will have to do some tests myself later and see if burst firing produces any more results, as I for one, almost never hip shoot. Appreciated.

Well that certainly looks different to the games I've played. For example at 1:28 it would take hella longer to have killed the guy who ran around the corner, same at 4:02.

Nice vid. I need to play this game more.

The guy could of been a bit injured and thus died fasted.

I have found using the medic's weapons in short bursts aimed at the head kills people in a few easy shots.

Indeed here and there I noticed enemies going down a lot faster than in previous vids. The first vid I posted had enemies absorbing an almost C&C-esque amount of damage - has this been changed in the game now?
