I just found this snippet in the Bash & Slash "MW2 State of the Union". As usual Jockyitch seems pretty bang on:

Quote

BFBC2 will pick up some of the discarded hardcore community, but more than likely, it will just share them. BFBC2 will not compete with MW2. It's a different game. Some of the social (clan-based) gamers and tactical guys will head over to BFBC2, while the lone-wolfers and andrenaline junkies will stay on MW2. The games are different.

Different enough to realize that there really is no direct competitor to CoD.

Up-market FPS's are very expensive to make and it is that very high barrier to entry that has meant that only two companies are seriously competing for marketshare: EA and Activision.

Lately, only Activision has shown the ability to make visceral, heart-pounding excitement that appeal to a vast army of gamers.

This has made Activision a defacto monopoly in "purist" shooters. EA's Battlefield franchise adds a large mechanized element that carves out its own niche, but I'm talking about foot soldier versus foot soldier combat.

I think he's defined the difference in the games almost perfectly. The two are very different experiences, hence why after several months of being an 'adrenaline junkie' (shame he can't spell), I find the gameplay of BFBC harder to get into. I guess it's just going to take some time.

PC = Beta testing (Rank 11 Limit, so all the unlocks up to Rank 11, the rest have stuff like 10000500 to unlock 8|)

Console = Demo

I can't wait to see what they have fixed/added for the PC, I'm hoping it will be good news.

The CG's better for attacking buildings and infantry, while the RPG packs more punch against vehicles.

Or for hitting Helicopters.
Quote

deltaepsilon's Photo deltaepsilon 12 Feb 2010

Helicopters being flown at decent altitudes by good pilots are nigh impossible to take down with RPGs or CG's, they either have to do something really stupid like land amongst a bunch of enemies, or fly slowly at a low altitude.

Though once, I managed to kill a chopper at medium altitude and its two crewmembers by firing an RPG straight in its general direction, pretty damn lucky shot.

Well I managed to guide a TOW into a guy who spawned who was parachuting down and...boom. Forgot to take a screenie though.

Was in a fire fight as an Engineer. Pulled out what I thought was my colt 45. Twas a tracer dart instead! That guy ran so fucking fast when he realized what I had done. It's incredibly satisfying to RPG someone running around an entirely different corner.

How about "Both are equally good in their own respects and should stop going into each others territories. I'm talking to you DICE."

Anybody else think the Saiga-12 is really kick-ass?
Quote

Destiny's Photo Destiny 13 Feb 2010

Yeah the Saiga 12k is awesome, but I picked the XM8 or something when I got it because I want to shoot at those pesky helis too 8|

Does anyone know how to get the RPG and Gustav to actually lock on to tracers?
Quote

Destiny's Photo Destiny 14 Feb 2010

I'm not really sure, but I theorize it's when someone/thing has been traced and that orange box will appear with a distance of x meters, from what I've seen personally via RPG scope. I didn't shoot though, I thought it was part of my specialization.
