Camille, be very very careful with the use of that word in your posts it can get you into a lot of trouble.
You've all been discussing the weapons of CoD4:MW for quite sometime. My post was to get you back to the future content in MW2. Not which weapon is best atm.

people use the word grammar nazi all the time. what's wrong with what i said? it's not like i'm calling you a real life nazi now am i?
and your statement doesn't make any real sense IMHO. since MW2 is the sequel to MW, discussing MW's overpowered weapons in regard to MW2 only seems normal to me.
or am i missing something here.

First of all I need to do some derailing

It's quite obvious this is where it's started. From here the topic has moved away to which weapons had what effect. Now you might not think that is off topic but I do. All I did was instruct you to get back directly to MW2 and all you've done is further derail the topic from there, proving my point. The effective thing to have done was to continue the discussion.
And as for the use of the word "nazi" I did not think that you did call me one, however we've already seen a comment such as this be misconstrued in the last week, with people calling for heads to roll because of it. It's best if you avoid it all together to avoid it's misinterpretation. Now for the last and final time, back to topic please.

Wizard if you read the post that started this CoD4 weapon discussion you will clearly notice it was a reference of what some people dont want from CoD4 to passed over to CoD6 hence it isnt derail from the topic

Sorry, but I can't really understand your argument.
We are discussing possible improvements for Modern Warfare 2, by analysing it's predecessor's flaws.
But if you wish so...
What do you guys think about vehicles. SP or MP. IIRC there is none controllable vehicle in CoD4, but you are the gunner in a few situations. In MP there were none at all.
In MW2, the AC130 is confirmed for MP, but I doubt we will see another Spectre-SP-level. In CoD2 and 5 there were Tank-levels. CoD5 had Tanks in MP, but I really disliked them.
Should MW2 have driveable vehicles in SP or MP?

*gets thread back on track*
SP vehicles are fine with me because SP has no balance concerns and I wouldn't mind a vehicle section without retarded controls *looks at Crysis's VTOL*
MP makes it more difficult due to the fact that players will be forced to carry rocket launchers more often and armor values will be have to be tweaked. Vehicles are more fitting in BF tbh. That said I can't wait to find out more about Battlefield 3.

If IW would be more creative on the rocket launchers than vehicles would work greatly (by more creative i mean insert back respawnable and unrespawnable AT and AA weapons)

Vehicles (most likely tanks; For Helis or humvees you would need a lot bigger maps) in MP wouldn't be a problem if they include on of these:
a) stationary at-weapons
b) rocket launchers that spawn on the map (so you don't need to use a anti-tank class)
c) ammo-supply on the map. (so your anti-tank class isn't useless after 2 shots)
Actually I hope they include ammo-crates (or something like that) anyway, or let you pick up grenades from killed players. I don't want to have nade-spammers, but it sucks to have only 1 nade or 2 C4/RPG/Claymores if you want to go for a long killstreak.

That makes it sound a bit more like Battlefield

A and C are from BF and B is from CoD (yes CoD not CoD4 or CoD2)
as far as nades are concerned...1 nade per spawn is way too many as it is (basically they need to add perks to allow you to use nades at all)

You can always use perks for more granades...that is sounding a little Battlefieldish...

or just seriously tone the things down in terms of power and throwing distance.

I don't care where it is from, as long as it would enhance gameplay. MW2 doesn't need vehicles in MP imho, but it would be something different and would attract more players.
As for nades, a server option to individually restrict/limit them would be fine too.
The ammo-supply could work like this:
-) There is only one ammo-crate on the map, probably in a wide and open area.
-) To get new ammo/nades you would have to press 'F', and wait a few seconds. While you look into the crate you would be very vulnerable.

Gameplay in cod is way too fast for you to just sit and stare at a box for a while, in those rare moments when u do run out of ammo u can just pick up someone elses gun or ull be dead anyway

CoD:UO had vehicles and thats it (not special ammo boxes and shitz...though it did had respawnable zooks placed on multiple locations in maps) and it worked great (fast and awesome). Also with the return of vehicles Base Assault could make a return (Base Assault= each team has 3 "bases" which need to be destroyed...in UO they were bunkers which needed to have its fortifications destroyed and afterwards have explosives placed inside)
also it makes me wonder will they ever return Behind Enemy Lines gamemode (basically Axis outnumber the Allies and hunt them while the allies gain points by killing the germans and surviving as long as possible)

actually a MP team mode were a team has to defend a tank as it cross the map could be awesome, like the mode in tfc/tf2 but with a tank instead of a guy with a umbrella/somesortoftrain

I have to agree. Something like this could be awesome.
One team would have one or more vehicles that are AI-driven on a pre-built route. The players could use the guns and tank-cannons, and the other team would have to destroy all vehicles or kill all players. This could be both round-based and deathmatch style.

That's a lot of information there, but a good find Pav3d. Really like the sounds of the breach motion or whatever it'll be.

US, August 24, 2009 - Ah the joys of dual-wielding. Halo fans know it, Counter Strike fans definitely know it, Goldeneye junkies are oh so familiar with it, and now Call of Duty nuts such as myself are going to learn to live and die by it as well. That's right, in a gameplay demo for Modern Warfare 2 at a GameCrazy convention today – why those sweaty nerds get to see the game after we kicked their pimple-faced asses out of E3 two years ago is beyond me – community manager and rabid blogger FourZeroTwo stepped over a pair of Desert Eagles. The crowd went nuts, asked him to pick it up, and he did.
You know what, rather than re-tell the story, here's his direct post as found on the Modern Warfare 2 forums:
"Akimbo is NOT the perk in the new MP trailer this week.
I was presenting a singleplayer mission at the GameCrazy show this morning on stage and happened to walk over a body that had Akimbo (dual wield side arm), therefore the icon for the weapon popped up on screen and the room went crazy with chants demanding I pick it up and use it.
So I did.
Happened to be dual Deagles. Now to calm some initial fears of "OMG! Overpowered!". Akimbo is limited and balanced, just like EVERYTHING in the game. It's limited to sidearms, harder to aim than standard and you can't go ADS (aim down sights) since you have a weapon in each hand; Among other balancing techniques, so don't freak out before you see it in action.
It's cool."
So by the sounds of it Akimbo may in fact be a new perk, but not the one people were clamoring about long enough for Infinity Ward to include in Modern Warfare 2 (and show off in an upcoming multiplayer trailer this week). Akimbo does leave us with some questions though if it is a new perk, and details will have to wait. FourZeroTwo was in mid-demo with the single player mode, but how will the system work should it be included in multiplayer? For instance, would players need the Akimbo perk turned on, thus allowing them to pick up two pistols? Is there some system in the game that now allows players to not only swap weapons but also perk-sets mid-fight? Clarification is going to have to wait, but the concept of running with Dualies in Modern Warfare 2 is one we'll be happy to try just as soon as we can.
Oh, and as for the multiplayer trailer hitting later this week, our money is on multiple attachments for weapons. We don't know a COD4 player alive that hasn't begged for that one. Got other thoughts? List them below in the comments section so we can make fun of you when you're wrong.

If the game is anything like CoD4 then Akimbo is OP as there is no need to ADS at all
Chyros

Fucking A!
Are the visuals from this on anywhere already? Nice find, Wiz
.
Depends purely on hip spread. You could easily pistol snipe in ADS in CoD 4, not having that advantage is a big hit. Would be fair if you could still ADS with one pistol and stabilise it on the other, while hip spread would increase. I mean, imagine a USP hip spread, and that amplified. I can't see how that would be overpowered.
EDIT: two rather stupid spelling mistakes <.< .

the M9 and D. Eagle deemed to accurate to me even without ADS (especially Desert Eagle...that thing was more of a semi auto sniper with no need for a scope)
but then again its easy to change the spread of weapons with only a few lines of coding
