Most PC FPS games have been console ports for years. MW1 was probably a console port and nobody seemed to mind.

MW1 wasn't a full console port. It had lean features, acceptability to mods/custom maps, dedicated servers, 32 player games, a lan function, a server browser, a console to change functions plus many other PC only features.
It's unacceptable that they have taken features out for no decent reason and then they charge $10 more. The company is clearly is out of line and full of itself.

Since CoD2 I believe they've been porting the ENGINE of CoD and working around the interface. You're completely right though as they've added barely anything to differentiate the PC version from the console. Mouse support? Will that mean that MW3 will force you to use a gamepad? I always thought IW knew how to read its gamers...

I don't think that any smart developer, including Infinity Ward, would force a PC player to get a gamepad to play a game that they made. The mouse support that they said was just being a "no-brainer" answer to show how the PC version is different from the console version. I don't think that they implied anything about Modern Warfare 3, whether it will be made or not, about how the controls are going to be for it.

Tbh Atlantis, I was using the power of hyperbole :) Ofc no PC game will force the use of a game-pad. I don't think MW2 will be that bad, but in my personal beliefs, I see that the upcoming BC2 will offer a superior MP experience.

The PC version is undoubtedly going to be one of the more hacked and pirated PC games of the year if they keep holding to this standard.

I don't even have the first game but I was planning on getting it sometime before the next red moon, but this ... well like hell I'll ever get Modern Warfare 2 now.

Damn shame this whole petition won't matter a bit (for those who still care about it). Who do you think IW's going to listen to, the under 200,000 PC gamers or the almost 12 million console idiots?

I mean, face it, gaming's fallen into the mainstream. Only logical, from the developers' point of view, to dumb it down to their level.

Exaggerating is an art, right? :D

The single player campaign at the very least is worth it, and if you have enough friends with the game, multiplayer should still be extremely good.

hmmm well pirating this game is worth it because with pirated copies all you get is SP (in 90% cases that is)

and we all know how great the MP looks :D

You broke my heart, I will say the opposite:

'' Even the trailer of this game worth buying ''

This is getting riddicolous. You're acting like there was no Multiplayer in the PC version at all. Just because of Matchmaking, the MP part is destroyed? No one has even tried it, and everyone is complaining.
The big problem was that the infos about IWnet were leaked. So everyone was complaining about dedicated servers before IW could reveal the new system themselves. I guess half of the people complaining haven't even checked the infos by IW and are still whining about not beeing able to play with the people you want and so on.
Also what's the problem with 18 Player limit. Everything in CoD4 above 18 players (on most maps) is a pointless massacre where you get killed every 2 seconds by an airstrike if you are in the losing team

Does the fact that MP works differently (actually it doesn't. Ingame it's still the same game) completely ruin the game for you? Well that sucks for you.
I'm mainly gonna buy it for MP but hell, this game is worth buying for SP and SpecOps.

BTW: I ordered the game for 45€ which is in fact quite cheap for a new PC game.

Nearly 90% of games have private cracked servers, I'm sure it will be no different for MW2...

I'm not complaining about the Matchmaking, I'm complaining because the PC version is nothing like COD4, which it should be because its a sequel. Why call a game a sequel, raise the price by $10 and then take out features which are standard in all PC games, which have been proven to work in many games and were in COD4 on the PC. I don't think there was anyone who complained about these following features in COD4: dedicated servers, the console system, the lean function, the custom mods/maps and the lan system.

So why the hell did Infinity Ward take them out? No one knows for sure, but one thing i can do is complain about it, otherwise MW3 could end up being striped down to the minimum of what a game should be. People won't care though because Infinity Ward have gone into the realm of developers who have so many fans that they could do a crap on someones face and it would be called a masterpiece.

when one of the IW guys say he got 100 ms testing it, and that was at least in the same state of the server and the other players? :D

besides matchmaking is one of the many problems with the game

The ping is the one thing I'm worried about, 100ms is playable but it isn't really good

'nothing like CoD4' is a bit to much here imho. I do however agree that they should have left the option for dedicated servers as well as custom maps/mods (although this has been shitty in CoD4 so I it isn't a loss for me). There is still Lan (you need internet for steam connection) IIRC.
Everyone has the right to complain, I'm just sick of the people acting like this game was the worst game ever. Sure it could have been better. I'm also clueless why IW didn't leave the option for dedicated servers. I also signed the petition. I just still think that this is gong to be one of the best games ever made.

Oh no doubt that the gameplay will still be fuxxing awesome, it is just all the other issues that go into making the actual game that we have reason to complain about. None of it is actually aimed at people now. All we hear from them is trust us. Er... well no. You've removed shit we all loved, so wtf should we trust you. It's like taking the AK out and saying, don't worry, we never used it and thought it was shit. Posted Image

To make things even funnier, I did an experiment. I uploaded the "'Till I Collapse" by Eminem and Nate Dogg onto YT, and in two days it got over 1.5 mil looks, full of nerdy "ZOMG this was in launch trailer MW2" or "IWNET sucks balls" :D

Lul wow, coz all console owners are screaming 12 year olds right? IW should totally focus their support on the minority of people who will buy the game and the other minority of people who just pirate it and play over cracked servers.

of course the console players have lost nearly anything at all(except the party chat i still call a stupid decision of why they remove it in the first place)

but for PC players is a HUGE step back also

Yup, but very soon there will be a PC pirated version and it would flourish if it wasnt for IWnet. As with a lot of PC games.

Arguably it would flourish a lot less if IW hadn't implemented those changes. Many people have cancelled their orders with the intent of pirating it instead because they a) would either not give IW money b) consider the multiplayer part not worth it anymore.

However much I dislike the changes IW have brought, we don't really know that much about it in this state. Though I have pre-ordered it (for 30 euros, yay) those that are still sceptical can of course just wait for the accounts of people who HAVE bought it to report how it is.

100ms ping is just unplayable, I had to stop playing CoD 4 with other FS members because I had a 90 ping which turned me into cannon fodder.
So yeah, I definitely won't buy this game, and not even lose my bandwidth and time to download it :D

I wasn't saying they had to focus on the minority. All I was saying is that they managed to keep everyone happy with CoD4's system. Why change it?

On the other hand, though, there's the whole 'we should cater to the lowest common denominator because it'll get us the most money'. While I'm not against making money, the way they've gone about it this time is terrible. I honest-to-god hope that all of this is because of Activision and not IW. And if it's just Activision, well, then we at least have one person we can blame for everything: Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard. I don't need to remind you of his philosophy towards gaming.
