that logo is a newer verison of the GDI eagle!!!!, its obvious, the wings are the parts that go out and if you look at the infanty man in the later cover you can clearly see an eagle head!

I live for only 5 things in life: Coca-Cola, Blizzard games, historical knowledge, books, and finally, C&C series. I hope to god this isn't a sore disappointment.

But at the other hand, I'm already anxious if the famous slowdowns are with the sage engine again.

BFME2 was like constant bullet time, even Max Payne would be jealous.

The GFX seems good so far, but who gives a **** about screenshots. Especially when they come from EA.
But the Mammoth tank looks... err... ghey.

The June issue of PC Gamer, which is already making its way into the hands of subscribers and should be on newsstands in about a week, has as cover story a preview of the next C&C RTS game, ostensibly titled "C&C3", possibly with a subtitle of "Tiberum Wars". The game will be set in the Tiberian universe. I can personally confirm that this is not a hoax or joke, and that the EA RTS team whose most recent accomplishment was the respectable BFME II will be working on this new project. The other important facts are:


C&C3 will be set some time after the events in Tiberian Sun: Firestorm. As you may recall, Firestorm assumed the GDI ending in Tiberian Sun, and itself ended with GDI in the possession of the Tacitus, the Philadelphia still in orbit, Nod coming under the control of Slavik, and CABAL presumed destroyed. The final cutscene of Firestorm, however, left players with a cliffhanger that posited that both CABAL and Kane survived in some form. C&C3 begins several years later, with the GDI in control of the "safe" (Tiberium-free) zones of the Earth, and attempting to use its knowledge of the Tacticus to remove the Tiberium infestation. The story opens with a Nod assault on the Philadelphia orbital station that throws the GDI into disarray.

A third side will be introduced, but it is as yet unknown. Speculation falls to it being either independent mutants, robots and cyborgs under the command of CABAL, or alien forces.

Kane is set to make a return, but there is no word on whether Joseph Kucan will reprise his role as everyone's favourite sociopathic madman.

Full-motion-video is back. The PC Gamer article hints that there will be not only in-between-mission cinematics but more in-game cinematics of the type seen in Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2 (and in the non-C&C RTS Act of War).

C&C3 will, naturally, be using a further upgraded version of the same engine that has powered Generals and both Battle for Middle-Earth games. For those of you who don't have BFME2, let me point out that its system requirements easily top those of Quake IV, so start saving up those pennies to buy the uber-system you'll likely need to run C&C3 at max detail.

The EA project team has stated that their two biggest design goals are improving the AI and creating a more immersive campaign.

Multiplayer will feature voice chat support.

GDI units known to be making a comeback include the Orca and the Mammoth Tank, though any art of these units at this time is liable to be entirely temporary.

No news on whether the interface will be Generals-style or traditional C&C-sidebar style. None of the screenshots or other art in the PC Gamer article included any pictures of a HUD.

It is extremely unlikely that C&C3 will come out this year. A reasonable estimate for the release date is midway through 2007 - in other words, a summer blockbuster for next year. Or to put it in more plain words... wait until next spring before dropping your cash on a new system.

As they did with BFMEII, EA is planning several "community summits" to bring C&C fans (modders, fansite operators, other prominent community members) down to their Los Angeles studios for previews and discussions.

I'll say it once, though it's been said a few times before. I really like Westwood's original concept for the Overlord. Maybe they'll call it the Mammoth Mk. III. In RA1, I didn't care that the Mammoth was Russian, as that didn't stop me from editting the rules.ini files to sweeten the deal. The only thing I wanted to do was make the Mammoth into the Monster tank (which was an uber version of famed metal beast in Mammoth armor). I couldn't, because it must have been hard coded into the game, but I tried. Anyway, That tank looks really sweet, and the game overall looks pretty impressive. It's about time they gave us a press release for C & C 3.

and how do you know that ?
they look nothing like overlords at all the turret and chassis have a completly different shape the only simmulairity they have is 2 barrels and also the concept art overlord for generals looks like the overlods we have today in generals and not like the duel barreld tanks we'v seen on those screenshots

everything looks pretty awesome in these screenshots, which is to be expected since it's part of a hype machine. The infantry actually look in-scale, which is scary for a C and C series, and their armor (which look like exo/power-suits) are kind of a logical progression from the armored mechs of TS. The orca and the mammoth both look pretty kickass, but wheres the mammoth's rocket pods?

I would like to see nod in this game, as they are my fav C and C faction, as for the third faction, cabal was orginally chosen as depicted in the concept art pre-generals, but now who knows. EA might cheap out and just put the forgotten in, or they might be unique and come up with a new side (or who knows, throw in cabal for old times sake). The magazine actually states that theres been no robots...which is sort of odd, but a mild trangression I guess. The graphics look pretty intense, so i guess new comps all round, but I would think it would be worth it, I sure hope EA doesn't deliver another let-down game...

looks like im finally going to have to shell out for a new comp then, cant wait to mod this. and i wonder how we can get to these summits where we give ideas on how we want the game to be. do you have to turn up to the EA LA studios?
