I want to apologize for anyone who is enraged by my comments about how Michael Jackson "deserved" to die. Look, if you guys want me to leave the forum forever, than I'm cool with that. I really feel like shit now. And it's a burden I'm willing to bear.
Once again, my apologies for pissing everyone off. And my sympathy goes out to those who are saddened by this. It truly is the loss of a legend.

Without him we wouldn't have music the way it is today, no doubt. He basically invited the "Music Video" and popularized putting more effort into the style side of the music.
He will be sorely missed by the majority of the world and remembered for the awesome music he produced, i hope generations down the line can still enjoy his crazy voice and flashy dance moves.
Rest in piece, you have earned it.

Much as I have absolutely no love for the man or his music whatsoever, I can appreciate this is a great loss to the world of music that he inhabited. My doubts remain as to his integrity after the allegations against him, but I would not wish death on him for it, least of all for something which can never be proven.
I think that people should take careful note of the sad story of this man; a thoroughly unhappy life, and a thoroughly strange one that would have earned him no respect were it not for the fame his music brought him, despite success, wealth and fame that have few matches. He should be remembered for his contribution to the arts scene, of course, but I hope people do not idolise the life he lead.
Also, to Wesley and Ion, you have both acted wrongly in this thread. Wesley, I hope you will consider what you say and the allegations you make carefully in future, and show much greater sensitivity for peoples' feelings, especially where a death is concerned. Ion, you've crossed the line of personal attacks and that's something I am not prepared to overlook. Do it again and there'll be consequences. You're welcome to refute people's opinions, but if you can't do it politely don't do it at all.

I never really liked him either. In fact, he pissed me off.

I am quite capable of refuting opinions politely but that is not always enough to get the message across. Sometimes more is needed, this was such an occasion.

Looks like my message didn't penetrate your brain Sobek.
You have no right to say that about someone who is now dead.

That was completely and utterly tasteless.
As for MJ, whether you like him or hate him, you cannot deny his impact on the world of entertainment. I sympathize with fans of his tonight.

People, for the final time, and prior to me getting VERY angry for being kept up too late: THIS IS NOT A BASHING THREAD. This applies to people in general, not just to forum members. Be respectful of the dead and look at the positives. Ion, you know how to get your point across, and you know how to get your point across and take a jab at someone at the same time - please try and refrain from the later a little bit more in this thread - say completely what you like elsewhere.

Tbh, this came to me as a shock. I would have never expected, that MJ would die so soon. Though I have never been a real fan of his music, he can surely be put along the side of Elvis.

I wasn't expecting him to die already, but I guess after all the surgery he had done to him, it'll catch up to ya eventually.
It's too bad really, and kind of sad. I don't really like his music at all but, he had a great impact on our society and for that he deserves respect at the least.

I really respect Michael Jackson's career as a singer. From the Jackson 5 to his later years, he produced back to back hit albums. Not easily done.
Screw personal life, look on the bright side!

Oh my this was unexpected. And right before his final concert
I had a couple of friends who bought tickets to that concert, and I can't imagine how bad it must feel knowing their idol passed away so abruptly. Though I may not be old enough to have "grown up" with MJ, I did follow his music alot while growing up and recently got back into all his tracks. He was certainly good at what he did, all the surgery aside. May the King of Pop rest in peace.
P.S. He supposedly died from cardiac arrest, so I wouldn't blame it on surgeries. Rather he must have been on weird unbalanced diets or something.

RIP. Found out about this yesterday evening, and people were drawing parallels with Elvis dying.

He was evidently addicted to a painkiller drug, so I don't think it was his food that did it.

Did anyone grow up with Michael Jackson? By that I mean, grow up listening to his music.
I don't believe we have any forumers who grew up with Mj - your best bet would be Wiz, but he is still likely too young to have remembered his best days.
That does depend on your definition of what his best days were. I am certainly old enough to have been around for Thriller and Bad and I remember buying both as they were released, which we're most likely his best. I also got to see him in concert for his Dangerous tour which was pretty spectacular at the time.
So yeah I am pretty sure I grew up with his music and tbh this new isn't as shocking as it could be. I mean I feel sorry for his family but he lost my respect many years ago. Someone said something quite astute to me once, a person stops growing up when they become famous. MJ became mega famous very young. He never had to grow up. Which is why, in later life he made so many stupid mistakes.
That said his music has changed the way we see pop culture and he should be remembered for that over everything else.

And..
Akamai's Net Usage Index, which monitors global news consumption online, found that Web traffic to news sites increased by about 50 percent, peaking around 6:30 p.m.
So many people wanted to verify the early reports of Jackson's death that the computers running Google's news section interpreted the fusillade of "Michael Jackson" requests as an automated attack from about 5:40 p.m. through 6:15 p.m.
As a defense mechanism, Google's news section responded to requests for information about Michael Jackson with squiggly letters known as a "captcha." Just as online ticket buyers regularly do to complete their purchases, the Michael Jackson searchers had to enter the letters correctly to see Google's new results.
Searches made through Google's main search engine were unaffected, according to company spokesman Gabriel Stricker.
On YouTube, traffic flowed to music videos of Jackson, while thousands posted videos of themselves sharing their thoughts on Jackson.

Others were using Facebook to organize vigils and celebrations of Jackson. One in San Francisco with nearly 50 confirmed guests hoped to recreated the "Thriller" dance.
Within a few hours of the news of Jackson's death, his 1982 album "Thriller" was the No. 1 album on iTunes. Several of his discs were also in the top 10 of the digital store.

I am quite surprised. Michael Jackson died at the age of 50, which I still consider still young for such a talented man like him.
Well we can't change the past, so the only thing to do now is to respect him and always remember him by the ways he changed the world by his talents. Goodbye Michael Jackson, farewell.
