I experience random three second long freezes, random crashes, and then there was the stutter lag when the game first came out. I tried to look past it and play the game, but the lag and freezes make playing it feel like hard work.
hm.. I guess everyone suffered from the lag in the first week, but I haven't had any of these problems you described.
also...
A post from you on a previous page:

...I encountered more Second Chance users than Last Stand users in MW2, and I have 75 hours on BO's MP and 818 hours on MW2...
You noticed you don't like it after > 75 hours?
If the game is really as broken as you described I highly doubt anyone would play it that long.
It's good for you that you'll get your money back but TBH, if a game managed to keep me busy for more than 75 hours, its definetly worth my money.
It's your choice anyway, but I think it's a bit harsh to call it unplayable and faulty.

There was a slight inaccuracy in what I said there. 75 hours is game time as read from my Steam Library - but not actual time spent playing online MP. I only reached Prestige 1, Rank 47 (I immediately prestiged) so I don't know what that equates to in play time.
I also spent some time playing Combat Training and faffing about with the emblem editor, which do work.
I didn't give up on the game right away. As I stated previously, I played through the lag, freezes and crashes, and waited for the patches that I hoped would make things better. They didn't.
GAME's Returns & Refunds Policy states:

Faulty software where the seal has been broken may be returned up to 3 months after the despatch date.
If the game freezes and has all these other problems associated with it then it isn't working as intended. How do you classify that?
Many other users experience the same problems so it's not just me:

The only problem i see is they might just blame your computer.
When i have bought PC games from Game in the past they give me a speech every time about how it might not run on my computer and if i had checked the specs to make sure my computer will run it. I'm not saying you didn't check, or that your computer isn't good enough, but i think that this is Game's scapegoat to refuse refunds on the PC.

You are right, Doc, and that's exactly what they said - they tried to pin it on my computer in their automated response, even after I'd stated that I exceeded the minimum system requirements.
When I e-mailed them again, I asked for a human response and cited the Kotaku article on the "mysterious lag". I told them that I waited for patches to improve the quality of the game (the lag, freeze and crashing issues).
In related news, the Steam Player Lists figures for today are quite interesting:
I have been observing this list for a few weeks now and have noticed that the current number of players for Black Ops has been dropping by thousands daily. Modern Warfare 2 is on the verge of overtaking it, and the game has only been out for just over a month. Draw your own conclusions from that.

Tried the patch. The frame jitter is still there for me, the freezes, although they seem to occur less often now are just as severe, and the game crashed twice by freezing. The patch also increased my ping by an extra 10 to 15m/s.
Playing with the field of view at maximum seems to have some kind of negative impact on aim and where my shots go. Not sure what is going on there...
There is a marked improvement to directional sound and gunfire volume.

Did they add any major gun balance changes? Just curious since I cant see any on the lists.

None at all, although you usually find after a patch that people claim a certain weapon has less or more recoil, etc.
After more extensive testing with the patch, I've found that Dutch servers still give me a ping that is equal to British ones. A ping over a greater distance should be more, not equal to or less (when it fluctuates). Answers on a postcard if you can explain this phenomenon.

Unless your wire goes faster-than-light I think it's a case of wrong ping
But DICE did try something like releasing a patch which says 'xxx and xxx changed xxx damage and xxx recoil increased' but in reality nothing changed.

Or the actual changes were so minor that they would only show up in special cases.

I have yet to explain this myself. I get better ping when connected to the States as opposed to say France or the UK in Steam games. Dunno why.

The new patch improved my performance quite a lot. Still not as smooth as MW2 but a lot lot better and certainly playable now. Since my machine is a C2D, it was a direct victim of their initial threading. The fix seem to have worked. Now I can really asses the MP

So... should I bother with this for PS3 or not?
Is it better than MW2?

That makes all the sense in the world...
Ghost notes happen often in games and in case you dont know, thats when they write a change in the patch logs but in reality it never happened (his example was the weapon "xxx" had its stats changed by "###" and "###" values but in the end no actual change was made)

Terrible balance and extremely stupid design decisions aside, the main thing is the game is just boring.
They also really dumbed down the game by removing anything that had to do with strategy - you can no longer tactically use sounds, but your characters will betray themselves with battlechatter that you can't prevent, sniper rifles suck even more because the way they work was raped, the spawn system is unbelievably stupid (and I do mean unbelievably), everyone uses claymores because it's the only useful thing in its slot, shotguns and SMGs are even weaker than they were in CoD 4 while assault rifles are stronger, perks are messed up and there's extremely little weapon variety because most have the same stats.
All this is reflected in how many players have abandoned the game already, many for MW2.

Dont listen to Chyros on the weapon balance...SMG's and Shotguns are fine (yes Chyros just because they removed your ability to have the shotgun as a secondary doesnt mean the weapon is broken...it still rapes the fields)
One thing however...FAMAS and AKS74u. Idk whats teh fetish with making the AKS74 retardedly OP in all 3 games it appeared but it happened and for some reason they made the FAMAS as a close competitor.

Try and defend something like the MAC-11, Uzi, Kiparis or any of the other SMGs though, I double dare you.

What's fine in having 10~ different SMGs when only one of them is worth using? I wouldn't say SMGs are useless in general, just all but the AKs74u are. (it has appeared in only 2 CoD games so far

And Shotguns? Sure when someone is right in front of you, there is a chance you can do better damage with a shotgun, but in 90% of all scenarios you wish you had chosen an AR instead.

Ironically how you decided not to mention the good ones...
About the shotguns...in which dimension do you play in? I get better K/D with my Stakeout than most of the other classes I play (only one class I have performs better) and I have yet seen anyone use ADS on a shotgun. With proper perks Olympia is 1HK (test it out if you dont believe) while all other shotguns take out in 1 to 2 shots max.
Have you even bothered playing shotguns or did you just looked at the starting shotgun class and decided to base off everything on that shitty choice?

Its all about playstyle. You may suck with shotguns but theres bound to be someone who'll rape shit with it.
