And more yellow...
I swear, I hate it when referees keep whistling and playing uno all day. In that respect, the ref that did NL v Japan was excellent btw, he hardly whistled for anything.
EDIT: and again and again and again and again...

I expect their players will be dead
I hear that Jim Jong Il had a meeting with the team before the world cup and said something along the lines of: "If you don't win at least one match, you're gonna spend the rest of your lives as miners."
I doubt that applies for all the players, (not the guy that scored verses Brazil, that's for sure). However, I think the Goalie's gonna get it.

I don't doubt that at least a part of the North Korean team will disappear in some dungeon somewhere in the middle of nowhere
.
Also, credit to the otherwise rather overzealous ref in Chile v Switzerland: he spotted the Schwalbe in the penalty area very well and disregarded it accordingly. Also, congrats to Chile, especially because I had them down for 1-0 to begin with

Thats pretty lucky
I'm hoping Spain can improve and beat Honduras and prove my original thoughts correct.

Well they seem to - it's 1-0 to them atm. EDIT: in fact, Honduras can't seem to get the ball off their half of the field at all.

So many missed chances for Spain. Anyway tomorrow Argentina will be playing Greece! Should be fun

Yeah although it probably wont be enough. South africa needs 3 goals now in 15 minutes, and they dont have to count on the other game as Mexico is currently playing the ball there.

The best two teams in that group qualified.
France didn't looked awful and didn't deserve it.
Lets hope Forlan can score a whole load more goals and net me some cash.

I'm glad Mexico is doing well, I like their playing. Same goes for Uruguay. The South Africans weren't good enough obviously and the French didn't deserve it to begin with (in fact I don't even think they really wanted it).
Tonight Argentina again
.
EDIT: so far the Greek battle plan is: build a cage around Messi our of Greeks and hope Samaras makes a goal all on his own someday. Interesting play even in the absence of goals, tbh. Greeks atm under pressure of being knocked out as Korea have overtaken Nigeria 2-1.
EDIT2: Demichelis made it 1-0 now, and even though Nigeria have equalised, Greece are all but out.

A VERY deserved win for Argentina.
Greece never looked like doing anything except for occasional moments of magic from Samaras.
However, it defeats me why they still defended so hard after half time when they must have known Korea were winning and therefore a draw wasn't good enough...
Also, props to Korea for getting to the next round

Greece could've put forward a much more impressive play in this match and others if they hadn't focused so much on defence. I'm convinced that Samaras could've done a lot more this cup if it weren't for Rehhagel.

Well at times in the match against France, South Africa combined really well. They lack the individual quality and the finishers to net enough balls. Mpela or what his name is, the SA frontman, really had a lot of chances at goal. A good team would have racked up four to five goals against this reluctant French team.

USA vs. Algeria today. I predict many debilitating calls against the US, as there were in the previous game, because, why fix what isn't broken?

Sidenote: those Algerians were WAY out of line against the ref in those last two minutes. If their captain hadn't envisioned at least one of them getting sent off, he needs to look into the rulebook a bit better.

Well the US beat out the Slovenes via a proxy match with the Algerians. Somehow ended up to #1 of the group, which is pretty bloody amazing considering that they're not that good.).
The next match should be interesting imo, the most likely thing to happen is the winner (prolly Germany) faces the England and the losers (likely Ghana) faces the Americans.
I really think that's as far as the Americans are gonna go, they have a minute chance against Ghana, but they are gonna be obliterated by the Germans. And ALL that goes topsy-turvy if the Germans manages to lose or if they tie in that match and Serbia manages to beat the Aussies big time in another match (happening at the Same Freakn' Time!).
