Did I say something different? :D

Also, even though I predicted 1-0 for Uruguay, I somehow managed to enter 0-1 into the pool instead. LAME.

By the looks of things, the smaller teams are more amazing to watch this year than the bigger teams, I can feel a big change over in the teams that regularly make it to the World Cup. I wouldn't be surprised myself if a completely unexpected or unlikely team won either.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the Vuvuzelas putting players off, that is causing all these draws or poor matches?
You wouldn't think so considering how loud crowds are anyway but I'm considering it a possibility as some players have complained about the noise.

On a side note too about them things: I'm heading to Glastonbury next week and I certainly don't hope they are selling them at every merchandise stall you walk past, I won't be able to hear anything over the buzzing sound. I think people are worried about the Vuvus taking off all around the world because of this.

I've been wondering that myself. Tbh, I wouldn't be surprised. The sound on TV is very much filtered for the vuvuzela noise - in truth it's a LOT louder. People can't hear pretty much a bloody thing anywhere in the stadium because of them. I think it's fair to say that it's at least a factor.

Holy HiguaĆn, he got a hat trick AGAIN Oo . I guess the goal by one of the many Parks didn't even matter in the end. FINALLY some hot Argentine playing here 8| .

Also, Greece got lucky with that crucial mistake by Nigeria - I still reckon they would've tied if [his name escapes me atm] hadn't got his arse sent off so early in the game. Greece played much more inspired after that happened though, even though their early game was obviously inferior.

Greece certainly surprised me in their second half. I was honestly expecting Nigeria to play the better game. And yes sending off the Nigerian player certainly shook up their play.

Argentina delivered beautifully 8|

I'm hoping Mexico can teach France a lesson. Else maybe we'll see some good French play? (Something I haven't seen since Zidane's heydays).

Though I've bet on a draw, I heartily hope the Mexicans will win. Not really because their opponents are the French (well, not ONLY because they are French :D ) but also because I think they're a much more exciting team to watch than France.

You racist bastard :D!

It's not racism since the French team is somewhat multi-ethnic 8|

Well I am going for mexico personally, simply because I'm English and thus am not fond of the French. No offence, it's just drummed into us at a young age 8| Also, would be just dessert for the French if they go out early - their little game with the Irish wasn't a great example of sporting play.

This is a really good looking game though, the game is open and attacking, even if the quality is not great, especially from the french.

Blimey me the French were awful. They started badly and somehow got worse as the game went along.
A well deserved win for the Mexicans.

Indeed. May have cost me points but I'm glad they won anyway. I know a Mexican PhD student we have at our lab who'd probably off celebrating now and getting drunk big time 8| .

Looks like Group A won't see the 'favorite' France and what we liked to see, South Africa, onto the second rounds, but Mexico and Uruguay.

The two teams probably will focus on not losing the final match, resulting in a draw and a pointless mission for France or SA.

Well... Germany look like they're going to have a lot of trouble. The ref is a disgrace, mind you. They've been great so far at this World Cup, and then something like this happens... it's terrible stuff.

Chyros's Photo Chyros 18 Jun 2010

What a disgrace of a match that was.

Also, I'm actually glad South Africa and France will probably drop. France doesn't deserve to go through anyway and South Africa is too weak AND makes too much noise |8 . Conversely, Mexico and Uruguay play much more exciting football, I'm glad if they'll make it through.
