Best Fighter or bomber jet ever made

typhoon2's Photo typhoon2 28 May 2006

mee thinks the eurofighter typhoon that would pwn raptor. cos the raptor is stupidly expensive; at $338million per plane and it costs several million per flight to keep it stealthy. eurofighter cost £30 - 35 million plus in terms of technology and multi roll capability the eurofighter pwns raptor as well! :P

but 1 v 1, eurofighter is screwed

I believe both the Russian and Indian air forces have shown interest in purchasing the Su-47.

according to you guys awhile back in that crazy thread you guys said it had a nice ass :pnd:

Wasn't S-32 the Western name for the Su-47 prototype before it was called the Su-47 Berkut? (in Ace Combat 5 it is a fictional improved Su-47)

The Eurofighter is an excellent fighter and serves the Europeans well. They need a multirole fighter equally capable in air to air combat and air to ground combat. It was designed with a completely different philosophy in mind when compared to the F-22. The Eurofighter affords more bang for the buck, while the F-22 affords much more high end performance at a much greater cost. Anyway, with the F-22's stealth and powerful BVR capability ensure that friendly losses will be low, so cost isn't that much of an issue.
The Eurofighter Typhoon is not stealthy. And you can't shoot down what you can't see (visually or electronically that is). Even performance wise, the Eurofighter cannot match the F-22 in sustained supersonic performance. The F-22 can make 1.72 mach without afterburn. To be able to go that fast without afterburners means that nobody can get you in their sights or get a lock-on. The aircraft’s impressive stealth capability, combined with its super cruise capability, will give any adversary a very hard time. The Eurofighter can make 1.2-1.3 mach without afterburn. In the BVR arena, the F-22 dominates. The F-22's radar is a powerful AESA. The Eurofighter is currently using a pulse doppler radar and will not recieve AESA until later. Just my two cents. The F-22 can also do air-to-ground- it is to replace the F-15E Strike Eagle and F-117 Nighthawk as well as the F-15C.
Read this article about an Air Force General who flew both the F-22 and the EF-2000:

The S-32 is a scrapped model of the S-47. I don't think even one of those got built.

MiG- 144 and SU-37

MiG-144 for looks, SU-37 because it can literally fly backwards. Possibly the most mobile plane ever built.

Anti All: F-22
Anti air: F-15 Eagle (they never did destroy one in a dogfight)

Yes, but that's because the people they were mainly fighting against were so badly trained, and their machines so badly maintained that it would be a miracle if they shot down anything.

f-22a is the best dogfighter in existence ATM.
Quote

Foxhound's Photo Foxhound 07 Jul 2006

I beg to differ. The F/A-22 is good at long range and first shot stuff, but the SU-27, SU-35, and SU-37 are better dogfighters.

my vote goes to the A-10 Thunderbolt II because of its sheer awesomness.
A-10 1
that screams, go ahead make my day.
A-10 2
that says, come on, try me!
also here is the full description, by wiki
Honorable mentions:
A close second would be the B-2 Spirit (personal favorite is the B-2 Spirit of Ohio, codenamed Fire and Ice or Toad)
third would be the C 130 Hercules,
then fouth the F-117 Nighthawk,
fifth would be, the C-5 Galaxy

Whitey's Photo Whitey 12 Jul 2006

Um

A-10 is not a bomber or fighter, it's an attacker

C-130 is a transport

F-117 is an attacker

C-5 is a transport

Ironwolf, here's one more you should mention:

X or XY - experimental aircraft

"P" also used to mean "plane" (IIRC) until after WWII example: P-38 and P-51. Both were interceptors/fighters/bombers/escorts/reconassaince, or if you prefer, multi-role aircraft.

Some pilots are good with one craft, and some are not. So you really cannot say one craft is best.

AllStar, while your post does hold some truth, these are people's opinions, so if you don't like what they post here, don't post. It's really quite simple. Either state your opinion of which aircraft you think is best, or don't post so that others may post their opinion(s) without the fear of being judged for their choice.
