Bought it with the expansion for $35 (About $25 US), and 2 days later I'm returning it... Thank god for EB Games' 7 day trial period.

Probably the most average RTS game I've played of recent years. It looks bad. The interface is horrible. The 15 epochs are hardly different from each other. Seriously, there's absolutely no reason I'd want to play this game...

Steer away, gamers.

I'm taking it back today... Might pick up Trackmania United as a replacement.

EEII is probably the only game that actually looks worse than its predecessor. Good call.

I'll make sure to keep away from it, but Empire Earth 1 is still rather enjoyable to play from time to time.

I really hope Empire Earth III turns out to be a success though. I can see why they're taking a different approach this time round.

Empire Earth II is basically generic gameplay done really poorly. Try Age of Empires without the tactics, and with 1990s 3d graphics and poor performance.

The controls are easy to handle and the epochs don't really start changing until epoch 7. Overall, it's a fun game but nothing special.

Two games almost exactly like it:

Age of Empires III

Empire: Dawn of the Modern World

Apart from the fact Empires: DotMW is tenfold better than EE2.

Haha, I've flamed this rubbish so often, I'm not going to describe the reasons as thoroughly again. All you need to know is that it was my worst disappointment of the year it came out. Now that there's new screenshots and trailers of it, I'm also losing my hopes for EE3. It looks so cartoony and some of the designs seem to have this bloated, colourful style of Warcraft or something.
I bought quite a lot of games in my time and EE2 is one of the only two games I hated. I regret having bought them. The other one is Rainbow Six Lockdown for the PC, shit graphics, ass gameplay and on top of that, it's Starforce infested. Now that I mention it, I think that I'll go out and throw it into the dustbin because I can't stand the look at this pathetic waste of 40€.

On another note, you can download new cars for Trackmania? Nice! This game is pretty much the peak of community involvement :D

Oh and PotP, I'm still staring in disbelief at the reviews of 8 and 8.9 on Gamespot and IGN. What were those people on?

Ooh yes, Empires was a great game. A shame that there wasn't a modern epoch really...Or does anybody know a mod for this kind of stuff?

id never bought Aoe 3

becease Sweden wasnt included!

that,s retarded

Sweden was a great power at that era,

Even though most off the game took place in america why would Ottomans be included?

Sweden had a colony

Ottonams had none

The expansion just made the indian factions playable

Im realy pissed off by this game

Seriously

WHY Does everybody hate Sweden!!

Same thing with total war meievial 2

They put in Denmark bt not Sweden!

It,s like the cold war without USA!

Denmark and Sweden are The CLASSIC Enimes at that era!

Sweden wasnt even in the expansion!

better hope thay put in Sweden in a Renissance Total war

if they ever do one

Ottomans as well as Russians were in AoE3 because the SP storyline required them to be in. They weren't colonial powers but since the campaign is partly based on facts (Ottoman siege on Malta) they had to be included. Also, we're still talking about a game. What sort of unit would have been iconic for Sweden in AoE3 to make it unique enough to be added?

To each his own. I think that Empire Earth 2 and especially it's expansion is great. The graphics I hardly care about. The territories system is ingenious, and there is strategy involved, just slightly different then the one Generals and TW have with it's OMGWTFBBQ spamming tactics, that won't get you far at all here. The AI is pretty good at what it's for, making skirmish a rewarding experience. There are several underlying factors that make you feel like your actually building an empire, and not just some general. Trade, temporary alliances, spying missions, contaminating supply depots, and in the expansion assimilating tribes and making your own civilization, complete with city and territory names and civilization bonuses. The campaigns are pretty good. Empire Earth 2 and the Command & Conquer series are both RTS, but they can be considered their own genre their so different. Empire Earth 2 is not a bad game, your just not used to it's differences, I am because I got into gaming thanks to it's forefather, Empire Earth 1. I hope EEIII has the territory system again, that is one of my favorite parts of EEII.

Well, I for one like EEII, I like to use it as a break from C&C. To me, C&C gets boring after along time, but EEII doesn't.

I've played a wide variety of different RTSes, from the CnC series to EEI and II, AoE and AoEII, AoM, Outpost2, Anno 1503, the Settlers series..... And I say EEII sucks ballz. Heck, they didn't even name the friggin' epochs like they did in the prequel.

Having played and loved EE1, I had great expectations in EE2 which were all disappointed. EE1 had the best map-/campaign-editor I had seen in a game thus far (thank god that Empires DotmW used the same editor) and the game had a nice balance between simplicity and complexity. EE2 in my opinion made a lot of backward steps compared to EE1. I expected it to be better but it wasn't even as good. The map editor was pure crap which killed the long time motivation for me. I had hoped for a game which is as good as EE1 with better graphics and some improvement but the actual game was entirely different IMO. I therefore put all my hopes into Empires and this time, I was greatly impressed...If there was just a modern/near future epoch, goddammit!
