Nothing to do with google. I compiled the list myself, although I did forget some of the names and had to go refer to a book or two.

AllStar, all I'm going to say is the fact that this thread was started by me to see what everyone's FAVORITE weapon of WWII was, not the best. I couldn't give two craps what the best weapon of each category was. I like what I like, and others like what they like. What gives you the right to come in here and put-down what everyone else likes?? Just a friendly piece of advice, "best" is only subject, depending on who you talk to.

Well If I was a Tank Driver, Panthers FTW. If an Infantryman, Stg 44 with a Colt .45 backup. Pilot, P-51 Mustang.

Panthers, good choice of a tank. Deadly from what I recall (high velocity 75mm cannon, even higher than the 88). Mustang, ahh it seems to be everyone's favorite (and for good reason). Good range, and potent firepower. Don't know much about the Stg 44, otherwise I'd comment on it.

Another few favorites of mine:

The Stuka. Integral part of the Blitzkrieg. No particular reason why I like them, other than it was an awesome dive bomber.

Not the prettiest airplane ever, but it earned the nick-name "Flying tank". This thing could take a bullet to the engine block and still fly. Now that's bad@$$.

Ilyushin-2 Sturmoviks are better than both at their separate strengths. Sturmoviks can carry 50mm cannons into the air to bombard tanks. They also are called Flying Tanks, and the pilot cabin? Protected by a bathtub-like shell of solid steel.

Uhh.....that's nice...I guess. I posted to let everyone know why I like them, not for someone else to tell me what was "better". Must you always contradict what I post?

First of all, its a Kalashnikov. Second, it wasn't made until after WWII, and Third, you really can't say a nuke is your favourite weapon, considering the fact that we meant like vehicles or firearms.

Nope, I did indeed say favorite WEAPON of WWII. Nukes do fall under that category, the last time I checked. Well, WMD, but it's still a weapon no matter how you slice it. Maybe you were referring to vehicles or guns, but a nuke is indeed a weapon

Retry, you were right for posting it, despite what AllStar said.

Must you do this all the time.

If i posted a pick of a MG-42 up, you`ll probably serach google for the facts then post them up, please STOP it, It`s not a technical weapon thread. I beleive Nuker has already said something about this.

Also your love for guns worries me.

A heavy cruiser that took the brunt of both Bikini Atoll bombs and STILL kept afloat is well made in my book!

Prinz Eugen FTW!

Yes Cattman, I have said something. Thank you for enforcing it.

AllStar, if you don't stop posting information that detracts from someone's post of THEIR favorite, I will report you (I have done it before). I'm not threatening you, I am promising you.

My favorite naval vessel:

The venerable Tirpitz. Not even underwater explosives could sink this vessel (by themselves). Again, not an Allied vessel, but it was a tough nut to crack. For that reason, it has earned a place in my book.

The Bismarck had a very comprehensive protection. Though its exterior maximum armor thickness was a little thinner than the King George V Class Battleships, It had more places protected by its maximum armor thickness than the KGV. It was also built better, structurally speaking.

And don't doubt the Swordfish. It was actually a reasonably good torpedo carrier despite its outdated design and looks. It might look fragile, but due to its cloth protection, areas hit by light or medium flak would simply break, and not shatter and spread the cracks like most metal skinned monoplanes or bibplanes. Strangely enough, a few AA gunners found that Swordfish were hard to hit.

I guess no one really likes artillery all that much. I'd have to go with the Schwerer Gustav. While cumbersome and having more than a few disadvantages to it i still think its cool.
