I dunno, the H&K 416 is basically an M4 with a gas piston, which is like an M4, except that the handguards get hot enough to leave skin on after a couple of quick magazines. (You really think they keep dunking the 416 in water during those demonstrations to show how reliable it is when wet?) Not saying that it's necessarily a bad gun, but there's a reason for the popularity of the M-16/M4.

Well, when he mentioned the HK416, the only criticism he had was that they wouldn't sell them, or at least the proper ones, to civilian markets.

That's an argument that I personally don't care for, because where I come from, pretty much nobody can acquire guns without some extremely long and tedious process. And when we do get them, they're anything but military grade assault weapons.

So pretty much, the only reasons he could give to why he hated H&K so much is because they were expensive and he as a civilian couldn't buy one. Ha! A sad tale indeed.

He failed to produce any tangible or concrete evidence (e.g performance/reliability issues) to why he hated H&K so much.
idk P90 to me looked like a stronger MP5 with (almost) twice as much ammo. M16 is a bit retardedly accurate seeing that you can land headshots like Arnie did in Terminator
P90 did less damage per bullet at close range but had considerably higher rate of fire. P90 also only kicked vertically and had a quick recoil stop whereas the MP5 kicked in all directions and had no recoil stopper. M16 had no recoil to speak of at all so it was basically a come-and-go sniper rifle.
They should also add in the H&K 416 to replace the M4.

The fact that this game will be set in the near future means that most armies should've wised up by then and started to phase in better weapons.

Proof that the M4 is a piece of turd:
Comparing Colt and HK is like comparing a spoon to a chainsaw, they're rather extreme examples of weapon families known for extreme unreliability and reliability, respectively :D . Still, an M4 in the game wouldn't be a bad thing, as much a fan of HK as I am.

You must have missed the part where he described H&K firearms as vastly overrated. I've fired the USP and the trigger truly is crap. And Colt firearms are of very high quality- the M1911 is only the forerunner to nearly every semi-automatic handgun today (and the Colt Peacemaker the forerunner to nearly every revolver today) and the M-16 is far, far more reliable than its reputation suggests (I own a sporterized M4 Carbine). The original M-16 had reliability problems because it didn't have chrome lined chamber and used dirty ammunition- those were soon fixed.

Well, I probably won't be able to discuss if they're overrated or not, as I have very limited weapons experience. The only firearm that I've used was an AK-47 at a shooting range in a South East Asian country.

Even though I have never used a Colt or H&K firearm, that video certainly gave me the impression of one being superior over the other. But I guess I cannot fully argue this, considering that your weapons experience trounces mine by a fair bit.

Yeah, they're so overrated that they're used massively by just about all special forces and law enforcement agencies in the world, and Colt firearms are of such a high quality that the US government contracted HK to design new weapons in an attempt to clean its inventory of M16's entirely.

And sticks and stones are the forerunners to all weapons used today, but that doesn't mean they're good. Besides, Colt didn't even develop the M1911 OR the M16, while HK develops all its own weapons.

Back on topic, please. This is about Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, not the merits of real life firearms.

May I refer you to the Warfare Technology forum if you wish to continue this discussion.

Thanks.

in before that is just a NPC animation and your most advance melee attack is the same as the standar melee attack with knife in COD4

...it has vehicles? :P

That would be good - as good as CoD 4's campaign was, it could have had more vehicle scenes.

There was a scene reminiscent of the AC-130 in CoD4. I wonder if this will be something new?

Looking good so far. :P
Looking forward to pwning online again as I don't have COD 4 anymore.

On a somewhat related note, I heard that the next Treyarch developed COD is going to be set in the cold war.

Your wish is my command!
Opening: MH-6 Little Birds (USA special operations, could be any one of Army Special Forces, Delta Force, Green Berets, SOAR, Marines, and several more I've missed) and an AH-6 attack version perform a heliborne assault on an island with an old fortress. Looks cold.
Scene 2: An F-15E Strike Eagle (it's definitely carrying a targeting pod) goes past one of the choppers. It's difficult to tell which chopper the camera is riding on but it's probably one of the MH-6s. More Little Birds are visible in the background. Lots of smoke and fire. The guy next to the camera is carrying a sniper rifle of unknown description. Looks cold.
Scene 3: Someone practices judo in front of a burning MiG-29, which shortly explodes. Before it does explode the MiG is carrying R-27 'Alamo' medium-range missiles and R-73 'Archer' short-range heatseekers. I suspect that someone stuck a bit too close to their reference images because the missiles carry black banding, which is visible in almost all the promotional shots, but actually designates an inert training round. I'm pretty sure the guy tossing the other fellow over his shoulder is carrying some kind of LMG, which I suspect is an M249 SAW but have absolutely no way of confirming. If I'm right that means Americans no happy with Russians. Then again the MiGs could belong to any one of a whole number of ex-Soviet states so there's no reason to assume it's definitely Russia that's under attack. Except for the background. Looks cold.
Scene 4: In this brief clip something explodes and people do interpretative dance. There's an Mi-24 in the background but it's not the most modern Russian variant because it has full-length wings. It's carrying mostly rockets but appears to have a pair of either Igla air-to-air missiles or Shturm ATGWs on the port wingtip. If it's the former it's probably Russia. If it's the latter it probably isn't because Shturms are ancient. Also around are what look like GAZ Tigr HMMWV equivalents (they might not be though, there are absolute bags of Russian 4x4s around these days). If they are Tigrs it's definitely Russia under attack here as they're pretty recent. Looks cold.
Scene 5: Divers assist a really odd mini-sub thing that I've never seen before. I initially thought it was a capsule carrying something but there's definitely someone sitting in the front of it. It does have handholds which suggests that the divers may actually be hitching a ride, but probably not. The hand at bottom right camera is making the signal for 'I understand', which indicates that these are probably Western special operations troops (I suspect Spetznaz etc. have their own hand gestures, though I could be wrong). Can't really tell the temperature of the water, but they're all rugged up in thick gear, so it looks cold.
Scene 6: Divers swim past underwater pylons of the sort that you'd initially expect to see on an oil rig but I suspect are too small. Then again there are a lot of oil rig designs. They're carrying satchels on their fronts which suggest something is going to go boom. Looks cold, but probably no colder than before.
Scene 7: A skidoo goes zooming past but something goes flash underneath him and he does an involuntary mid-air ballet. His rifle may or may not be an AK, and his dress certainly isn't very Western. The skidoos are driveable. Looks cold.
Scene 8: Some poor sod is wandering through the carpark of what looks like an ordinary suburban fast-food restaurant when he's seen on an airborne thermal camera. The text at the top of the camera reads : #3 CAMERA:SHELLFIRE **ODA**. ODA apparently refers to an Operational Detachment Alpha of the United States Army Special Forces. (Well, either that or it could be referring to the Ontarians with Disabilities Act, but I doubt it.) Hilariously named 'A-Teams', ODAs are the basic element of Army special forces composition and may specialise in different missions. Something zips across camera at high speed; I rather suspect that it's someone taking a shot at the fellow, though I could be wrong. He may or may not be carrying an AK. The scene then ends. Does not look cold, though it could be. The camera is almost certainly mounted on a helicopter and is not part of a targeting system, meaning this is not an indicator of another AC-130U-style mission.
So, what can we determine?
- The US definitely has special forces involved in a big way, and they have support from the big guns in the regular military
- Someone is almost certainly out to get Russia, and it may be those mentioned above, or it may not
- It will be cold
- There will be vehicle sections
- They cut very fast.
So there you are, an analysis with more detail than you ever wanted. Do with it what you will.

That is just so the wrong way round guys...

Anyway, it's gratifying to know that I was sort of right in that the Russian army are involved but it's not WWIII.
Also:

Quote

Early copies of next month's Game Informer reveal new Special Forces mode, Russian terrorist adversaries; longer single-player, co-op campaign ruled out.

However, those looking for a single-player campaign longer than the original's 6-10 hours are out of luck.
Contradiction much? Probably a typo.

Actually, "6-10 hours" is already longer than CoD4's SP-campaign. It's cool too see
that Soap is still alive and I'm looking forward to this mysterious Special Forces mode.

I'll most certainly get this, if I can get a PS3, and if they do publish PS3 versions.
