Same time as a UAV, and about half the time of a heli depending on the map you're playing on.

Basically instead of the ussual 3 streak awards in MW2 you choose different awards (that have a fixed kill streak) just like perks?

If so then its a good idea

Yeah, that's the idea.

Basically a reaffirmation of what is already been stated officially (or leaked unofficially).

Question: Is there going to be customizable appearances for soldier characters? (Like in Rainbow Six Vegas/Vegas 2)

AFAIK or can even find, nothing has been said about customisable appearances.

There are good indications you can make your own logo & banner, but indeed nothing has been said about appearances. If you check the trailers though, factions seem to have pretty standardised soldiers, so I wouldn't bet on it.

Another big MP reveal event is scheduled in LA today, apparently. Wonder what new stuff they'll be showing?

Infinity Ward CEO Vince Zampella is so damn happy right now. After constantly answering the, "so what's new with multiplayer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2," question with, "we're not talking about multiplayer yet," he finally gets to say, "Well, we're f---ing talking about multiplayer right now!" Don't expect any sort of radical additions or changes; IW isn't adding another take on Gears of War 2's Horde mode, nor will there be any zany "one team guides a missile while the other team sits around with anti-air guns trying to shoot down that missile!" modes. When we talk with Zampella, he comments, "we wanted to take what worked with Call of Duty 4, and expand it. Add the things we always wanted in multiplayer games." So while there isn't any one super-crazy-new standout feature, the multiplayer for MW2 instead adds a whole lot of little things.

"Death streaks, secondary weapons, kill streak rewards, call signs, emblems, accolades." Those are some of MW2's multiplayer additions. Again, most of these don't end up changing the very face of multiplayer, but they are a smart set of tweaks that, so far, add up to a damn nice play session overall. The call signs and emblems make for a nice "sense of identity and reward" touch. As you rank up and perform well in multiplayer, you start unlocking new acronyms (or "call signs"( and emblems for your record. At the moment, I only see "FNG" (most likely "F---ing New Guy") and "SSDD" (perhaps, "Same S--- Different Day?") as the call signs, but there's a whole screenful (and more) to choose from. These can be paired with emblems, which are nifty little icons that you get as a result of consistent actions. Lead multiplayer designer Todd Alderman noted, "if you're frequently using the riot shield, then you'll get a bunch of riot shield themed emblems." Personally, I'm hoping to combine some super weird call sign, like "ZMGBBQ" with a throwing knife emblem or somesuch.
Posted Image
A small, quirky addition that feeds into the Emblem system, is the Accolades. For certain actions during a MP session, you get an equivalent experience point boost and an Accolade that shows up as an earned Emblem. These range from "Buzzkill!" for stopping an opponent's kill streak, to "Crowd Control" for using the riot shield to create a distraction for your team. These pop up a lot during a typical match, and they seem to help provide even more experience to equalize players a bit (I'm personally hoping for a "throwstab" Accolade to reward particularly-awesome throwing knife kills).

Death streaks seem to be another "n00b-tube" style equalizer -- a way for, erm, lesser-skilled players to still have some fun in the game. Basically, whenever you die three (or more, depending on the death streak picked), you have the opportunity to use said deathstreak. The multiplayer matches I play have two death streaks on hand: copycat and painkiller. Copycat will, after four deaths in a row and a push of the Y button, allow you to respawn with the same class/gear as your killer -- so if someone had a nice Barrett .50 caliber that plinked your skull and you can't use, you can copycat him. Painkiller will, after three deaths in succession, grant you a significant health boost upon respawning.

The kill streak rewards, though, are even crazier. You can somewhat customize the order in which you unlock these (which, in itself, is probably something you earn at a certain rank, otherwise what's to stop you from making the most powerful kill streak reward the first thing you get after three kills?), and man alive, they are a doozy. It looks like the initial order is: UAV, Counter-UAV, Care Package, Sentry Gun, Predator Missile, Precision Airstrike, Attack Helicopter, Pave Low, and AC130. The UAV and Attack Helicopter are welcome friends from COD4, while the others add nice twists and surprises to the experience. The Counter-UAV is a decent way to mess with the opposition when they are pouncing on you, and the Sentry Gun is a Team Fortress 2-esque way to mess fools up. The Predator Missile presents a nice taste of the mayhem that the AC130 will bring (the missile is controlled remotely, and as personal experience attests, it doesn't do a good job of penetrating structures, so fellows who run into buildings and hide have a better chance of survival than fools out in the open). The Pave Low seems to be the big bad mamma jamma version of the already-aggravating attack helicopter. Though, the most interesting, and unpredictable, is the care package. You drop an airdrop marker on the map, and wait for a mysterious crate -- whatever is in the crate is randomly determined. Maybe it's just a quick resupply of your current gear; maybe it's a free sentry gun. On top of that, you can even attempt to steal an opponent's care package.

Perks-wise, with most of the cooler Perks and whatnot still locked (IW had most media start at level 1 per match), I only see a few new ones that catch my eye. Besides standbys like "Stopping Power" and "Steady Aim", there's a host of crazy new stuff like "Hardline" or "Marathon." The tier-one Perk "Bling" stands out because it allows you to place two attachments onto your primary weapon. "Marathon" seems to be a buffer version of "Extreme Conditioning", as I basically can spend my whole match sprinting around. "Scavenger" is a popular tier 2 Perk, as it allows you to fully resupply your arms from fallen foes. I never get to use "Hardline", but the fact that it reduces your kill streak requirement by one (so you can unlock your first kill streak reward with two hits!) is pretty huge. One of the pre-made classes, the "Riot Watch", is equipped with the riot shield as the primary weapon and the "Akimbo" Perk, allowing me to switch between shield and two machinepistols.
Posted Image
Wait, two machinepistols? Yes, that's another addition: secondary weapons. Rather than just be limited to sidearms, you can now add firearms like pistols, shotguns, and even anti-tank gear. So yes, you can walk around with a FAMAS as your primary, and then whip out a freakin' AA-12 shotgun as your backup weapon. In addition to secondary weapons, you also can carry new equipment such as throwing knives and tactical insertions (a flare that marks your next respawn point -- be careful, as opponents can destroy this flare and mess you up).

Alas, I only get to mess with these toys across three maps, "Favela," "Highrise", and "Afghan." Highrise is what you'd expect -- an under-construction building with lots of ins, outs, and mayhem. It's an "okay" map to me, and I have more fun in Favela, a basic urban combat map in Rio (great use of narrow alleys and easily accessible roofs makes for fun Capture-The-Flag sessions). Afghan is perhaps the craziest map, mainly because it's mostly desert with just a wrecked AC-130 as cover -- it's pretty easy to get a kill streak rolling as opponents are easy to spot, and man, dropping missiles and airstrikes on open ground makes for great bragging rights.

Even from this small slice, it's easy to see that MW2 is an "expanded version" of what was already a damn successful, and awesome formula for multiplayer. It will be interesting to see if there is a public beta (at the moment, Zampella says," no comment"), because there is so much crazy stuff going on, that I wonder how hard it will be to balance all of the new Perks, Death Streaks, and Kill Streak Rewards. Keep your ears open for a multiplayer beta announcement, and if not, well, get ready to see a lot of people using Bling to kite out their guns when the game comes out on November 10.

Looks like some fun new additions *waits*

Courtesy of Rayburn over at SWR Productions; four cam vids:
1, 2, 3, 4

quick analysis of the vids:

-blue perks:
*marathon (seems to replace Ex. Condition)
*scavenger
-red perks:
*lightweight (probably improves move speed - icon is Hermes' winged shoe)
*stopping power (nooooo)
-green perks:
*steady aim is back
*martyrdom may be back
*commando
-domination gametype is back
-helicopter is back
-SPAS-12 can accept a silencer (:o) & holds eight shells at a time & is pump-action
-"bloody hand faction" is Brazilian militia
-"care package marker" weapon - gametype-related or the Airdrop hardpoint
-unidentified .44 magnum revolver weapon, possibly a Colt Python
-laptop confirmed as hardpoint activation - the predator missile must be guided as it comes down not unlike a Redeemer in Unreal Tournament
-M203 underbarrel grenade launcher is back - the player seems to have scavenged the weapon including its grenades from somebody else
-FAMAS seem to be burst-fire much like the M16 was
-knifing still seems to take the full amount of time like it did in CoD 4, unlike WaW
-SA80 weapon is L86 LSW
-titles & emblems must be unlocked
-scout sniper class & riot control class (probably prefab like the Assault, Specops etc. classes were)
-earn accolades which look like challenges - i.e. "most knife kills"

EDIT: Wiz' info sheds even more light on this :D .

Good article indeed, sheds even more light on the situation. But "pro perks"? That sounds lame beyond recognition.
