Where did you get that wood texture?

You've improved a hell of a lot since your last models

Thanks dude! =) Hehehehe :) Well, i got the wood texture from a picture of the Mosin Nagant [side]. Them i corrected some lighting issues with Gimp (with the High pass filter) and applyed it as texture over the model.

Thanks again... Well...Blender is a Desing Suite that comes with Modelling, Animating, UVW Editing, Sculpting, a powerfull particle editor, Post-Processing (Compositing), Video Editing, and many more things! It's much more powerfull tham some proprietary softwares around the market :) You should give it a try. Even if the interface looks odd, (in version 2.49 = i'm using the 2.55 that has a big change) you just need goodwill and patience to learn...

Hehehehehe.... I'm just a small guy that decided to change from 3ds max to Blender, for 3 reasons:

1) My father don't want me using Jack Sperrow's Software (we had a fight :D)
2) We couldn't afford a PRO License of 3ds max, back in July. (he really wanted me to have 3d as a possibility for me to make some money in the future, but it would be illegal to use another license).
3) Them he won, by introducing me to Blender and paying me an online semi-pro course with this amazing tool. When i started learning i immediatly fell in love... and it made me never wants to use 3ds again :P

Seriously, Blender's hotkeys are great and it doesn't needs you to keep scrolling your mouse everywhere to hit a button. :P It used to make me tired a lot, and i never really had patience to make nice models with 3ds :P And looking back, i was really a n00b.

Now i'm discovering the secrets of the REAL 3d with Blender... A FREE POWERFULL TOOL :) You should try it. :)

Anyways, i might be finishing my course by the end of the year, when i'm gonna need to a Course Conclusion Work :P Mostly a caracter :P But now i need to have vacations first, so untill Deceber my work will be pretty slow :(

@Camille, Deathscythe and everyone else that checked this thread :D
Thanks everyone for such nice comments :)

PS: Here goes another update on my scene - remember that the lights are WIP. [CG is all about a nice lighting, to get a nice feel, so i like to keep reminding you guys :P]

like I've said in your ModDB page, jawesome works.
you're really into Blender eh? now can you do organic? :P

btw, I also have tried Blender (that's my first 3D modeling software), but I don't like the UI and remembering hotkeys is a must.
I'm stick to 3dsmax because 2 reasons: because 3dsmax needed for CNC modding, and I still have my free 3dsmax serial number for student. :D

Nice work :P

It would be cool if you added some variation to the floor, maybe some darker beams of wood or some cracks and creaky looking floorboards. Keep up the good work!

The carpet is a nice touch, as well as the wrinkle towards the left end. However, the wrinkle towards the middle seems to be sagging, as if falling down into a slot in the floor. Could just be the viewing angle though. If, however, it is indeed going downward, you might want to fix it. Can't have any holes in our floors, now can we? :P

Thing with lighting is, its nevery truly white (unless its a hospital or some sort of clinical place) it would look more natural with a tint of yellow.

Also the shadows could be softened a bit (not sure what settings blender uses tho, but if it has an "area shadows" option or something, try messing with that)

Might aswell just model the cracks between the bricks, not like you're worried about conserving polies in that :P

fixing it with polies is indeed an option, but I don't know, if its a texturing assignment for school :P, he better messes around with normal/bumpmaps :xD:

nice work on the carpet :xD:

In light what nuker said, it is possible for the carpet to be thinner in spots, you are right that it shouldn't go through the floor but I cannot really say with certainty it is going through the floor. If there has been standing an object on top of the carpet, like a table, you would see flattened areas where the paws where.

the problem then again, is that I can't think of any object that looks like it would give a print like that and is placed on a carpet :P

Where there's smoke...there's fire =)

First fire simulation test done with Blender. Guess for what it is...
PS: I'm going to answer all comments in my last post, regarding the scene.

I'm pretty sure that is the fire that is going to go into your fireplace in the room scene :xD:

Yep :P

Now it's time to post another render Wip, with some new props and the finished lighting.
Posted Image

Now i must finish modelling the props, and try to find a way to composite the fire into the image (Via Blender's compositor) since, the smoke/fire simulations is too hardware intensive... And my computer would blow if i'd make everything into the same scene.

Anyways, feedback and critiscm is welcome as always.

Nice, the lighting looks really good!

I think what you are missing is an evil looking armchair like this and maybe some more detail on the floor (dirt, dust and cracks).

About the floor...do you guys really think that it's really necessary?

I think it's one of those 'perfect' scenes. You know, where everything is perfect and cosy - like an ad.

And I think the floor suits it well.

I feel it would look better with a more detailed floor, but you could just make it less shiny. An evil/old room like that wouldn't have a super buffed floor.
