Coop confirmed. I'm not sure whether I like it or would use that feature. It can be fun though.

On the other hand it confirms the greater emphasis on gun play i.e less rpg aspects.

Tbh not a huge amount that I can take from the reaper battle aside from the thresher maw is pretty nifty in those sorts of circumstances :P

Also, ME3's audio team has been confirmed, and they've linked to a bit of the new music. Quite inspiring, really.

(Also, never realised the media tag could run mp3s too, nifty :D)

I've had no problems with Origin on BF3 to be honest, I doubt there'll be any with ME3. Origin is...overhated :P

It's simply another piece of software that I don't want to have to use to run my games. Steam is my primary platform for a reason, because it is the best of the services out there. Origin will never replicate that, and I feel that the issue of launching Origin etc has been partly to blame for me not getting as involved with BF3/FIFA12 (yes hate me now for FIFA) as I would like to. Furthermore, if EA insist on creating another system like BattleLog for ME3, I swear to God I will not even attempt to bother to try it.

This man speaks the truth.
I've had less problems with Origin than with Steam...

Steam is bad, but it has some advantages to using the platform (like huge sales, for instance). Origin is just a extra layer of bloat that doesn't need to be there, just like some parts of Steam.

They're both bad, but there are at least some reasons to use Steam.
If you completely remove Origin from BF3 (and ME3, now) and make it an optional install there would be just about zero reason to install it.

Origin's download management is absolute shit. It hurts low speed users like me since I had to download BF3 and Crysis 2 like 4 times for each game to get it properly working. This is mainly because if I lost my connection during the download, it somehow corrupts the entire download. These are basic errors that should not be there if they want to promote Origin. I was still using Origin because it used to offer reduced prices in the Indian subcontinent and Seychells. However, after the BF3 launch, now I am redirected to the South African store which is total bullsh**.

I don't think I'd be paying for any EA games till they fix this.

Buying the physical disc is too expensive for me.....Steam on the other hand is very good @ what it does. I bought GTA4 from a steam sale some months back and the download was damn huge, I borrowed a pirated disc from a friend of mine and installed the game and copied the copy folder to my steam folder, then the installation only downloaded the missing files, which is quite convenient. Origin does not even have a game backup functionality as of yet AFAIK.

Neither did Steam have all those features you mentioned on launch.

Cut EA some slack for at least trying to provide some competition to the monopoly that Valve holds right now in the sense of digital redistribution of games. Perhaps the consumer might actually profit from this.
Besides, you don't /need/ to run both programs simultaneously anyway (Unless you of course want to run multiple games on multiple monitors and play them at the same time)

Either way, I'm getting Mass Effect 3, and Origin as well.

I did the exact same thing you mentioned with Origin for Bad Company 2. And backup is just a matter of copying a folder.

Apparently EA doesn't understand concepts like "market saturation" or "tragedy of the commons". Why is it that apparently they're the only company in the universe that actually cares what investors think?

Spoiler

I will definitely be getting this, especially if A) legion is present, B) more than half of the game is non-recruitment/loyalty sidequests, C) engineers get a buff, or D) there is more exploration.

When I downloaded BD3, I did a backup thing also by copying the download folder, but it is no where near as good as the Steam. It might improve in the future, but today, Steam is way ahead on Origin, and its sad when I have to play a great game like ME3 on Origin.

I am ready to compromise on all of this if they still directed me to the Indian Origin store instead of the South African one!!!. I googled the problem and I saw some people in South America also being redirected to the South African store

I know this is a bit offtopic, but for the people bitching about Origin being only a "Steam for EA Games", here's a little change in that : http://www.ea.com/ne...11-new-partners
Hopefully they'll also start having sales and provide some more serious competition for Steam 8|

"Sales" in EA (and Activision et al) terminology is 10% off, or finally making a game that is 5 years old cost less than it did when it first came out.

Sorry, there are already competing services to Steam and they are all miles ahead of Origin. Origin has so many outstanding issues with the whole thing, from its delivery methods to the licensing.

!

Looks rather intense tbh. For a second there I thought we were going to be shown a Geth class too, but sadly not, the Geth got owned by an infiltrator :/ Close combat looks like quite fun, to be honest, but I'm not sold on multiplayer, even with this.

Videos showing off the interactive story, customisation options, space battles and some actually gameplay footage. I just wish that there will be some sort of playable space battle, but I doubt it will be.
