moving on: i just saw a pop-block video on gametrailers that emphasized the fact that MW3 is a *gasp* -- FIRST PERSON SHOOTER.

Also, just to be clear, Wanderer just told me Bowling confirmed you can still get the DLC if you don't have CoD Elite. Of course it wouldn't really make sense for them to make you unable to buy their products, but in any case it should fortify that Elite is more of a standalone thing and not interferent with the actual game in any way.

yeah i picked up that much, seems like elite really won't be that detrimental to actual gameplay (perhaps not at all, even).

From what I've understood about the elite is gonna be a platform for future CoD-games also.

"Everyone who has #MW3 gets the
same access to weapons, perks, attachments, etc. ELITE tracks stats and more."

that's from bowling's twitter feed. No idea what they are gonna offer that's gonna be interesting enough to make ppl to pay for it every month.

One might speculate that you'll get next to zero achievements or statistics without it or some such nonsense. I honestly cannot see the business sense is having a non-gameplay based subscription package for DLC only without deducting some form of ingame facility from the non-premium users.....

I think it's good that you get the same gameplay no matter do you pay or not. But it just leaves alot of questions about what they are gonna make available for that money. It's gonna be abit over another CoD-game a year in money to pay for the elite

Just wondering here, do any of you guys play MW2 on hardcore? Cause I see you complaining about damage all the time, but since I only play in hardcore mode (normal is for noobs), the players have so much health that they die with a single bullet to the torso. It also makes stopping power pretty much useless against most weapons...

hardcore is an interesting mode and in many ways it's more balanced than vanilla play. however since it's, well, hardcore, it's a bit harder to quickly enjoy a casual game. it's fun but not always.

I play a few rounds of HC every now and then if I'm playing alone. Though I mostly play with Chyros and Stinger and then we play normal domination

Hardcore is not so much a shooter but more of a first-person-"who spots who first" kinda thing. It has it's interesting aspects, but it's not as entertaining in the long run as normal mode, imho.

Yeah, but having a map that shows you the exact location of every person who shoots a single bullet is ridiculous, and so is the presence of a crosshair imho. Why even include iron sights if you have a crosshair?
I play mostly wars against other teams though, and that's why I think HC is better : it forces you to cooperate with your team to locate enemies, but I suppose it isn't the best solution for a casual FFA game... Yet it still manages to get rid of most of the noobish perks such as commando pro and stopping power

Hardcore mode is several times more unbalanced than normal mode. It removes basically every single balancing nuance in the game and removes a lot of features supposed to be integral to the game, too. It's mostly played by players who can't shoot well enough to make kills in normal mode, I've noticed. Many factors of skill which you can use in vanilla play to determine where an enemy is, are lost in hardcore, so basically it's actually hardcore that's for noobs, not the other way around, because you don't need any skill at all to do well in it, and it discourages skilled playing.

I can assure you there isn't a single aspect in which hardcore is more balanced than normal play.

Well you can always use a silencer... Besides, it's an element of skill to be able to piece together a full picture of what's happening. This is much less possible on hardcore.

FYI, you're not supposed to use the crosshairs. If you do, you're not playing the game very well  .

perhaps statistically not but i was more talking of personal experience. in most cases hardcore matches seemed more 'fair' to me than regular matches.

Well, you don't need stopping power. Other than that you're right.

But I wouldn't say Hardcore is for noobs. I've encountered more skilled players on Hardcore servers than on normal ones.

My problem with HC is that you need completely different classes for it. So It's either HC only, or SC only unless you want to change your classes every time you play.

Also @Knife discussion: I hate Knife running, It has no place in this game, as well as throwing knives. But I used to play as Knife-Runner some time ago, and It was damn effective. You don't need an entire enemy team of noobs, to win as knife runner. As long as you don't mindlessly charge your opponents, it can work. (Until ~80% of the enemy team SPAS the shit out of you) Nonetheless I don't want MLC runner in my Call of Duty - For the same reasons as Quickscoping. Not because it's OP, but because it looks stupid as shit.

Well that last bit is exactly what I mean. If you're facing good opponents, and you're kniferunning (and do at least marginally well) they tend to just switch to a class that will shit all over you. And that's why kniferunning doesn't work very often (especially because kniferunners inherently don't complete objectives in objective-based games).

Wait, what? Are you saying that it is easier to play on a mode where a single bullet can kill you than in a mode where you could actually hit a guy with half the ammo in your barrel and he'd still be running like nothing happened? Oo

The real element of skill is locating your enemy with the sound that and his guns make, there's no skill needed to look at a minimap which basically shows you the whole enemy team. I actually use silencers on 5 out of 10 classes in HC mode, including 2 sniper classes

Yes, because everybody can land one bullet.

This is just stupid. You don't need 10 bullets to kill a guy, even if he's wearing a kevlar suit. Is this Modern Warfare or Team Fortress?

Yes, but I find myself unconsciously relying on the minimap more than on the surroundings, it also makes team work pretty much useless since you just have to look at the red dots to know where the enemy is, instead of having to decipher your silly teammates info :)

I never killed a teammate in hardcore mode (at least never by accident :P), I rely on the camo's to know if the guy in front of me is an enemy or not. In fact me and my friends have gone to the point of installing a mod on our server which removes all elements of the GUI, so yeah... D:

You don't need ten bullets in normal mode either. It's usually two or three.

Hmmm, that's not exactly true. You don't "just have to look at the red dots" at all. There are more clues in normal than in HC, but a good player can know what going on on almost the entire map if you piece together all the information, not just some dot telemetry on the minimap.

No, you misunderstand. It has nothing to do with not knowing if a guy is an enemy or not. It has to do with being able to spot them or not. Cold-Blooded doesn't give away your position by turning the enemy's crosshairs red if they go over you. That's why CB Pro is such an important addition. Also friendly fire is extremely lame IMO.

In any case this discussion is rather off-topic, I guess :P .

It's hard to talk about MW3 when there's basically no info, so it tends to go abit offtopic

ok a quick look into Bowling's twitter:

"What COD ELITE offers FREE to all players. My favorite? Adjust custom classes on the fly, from your phone. #MW3"

"Yes sir, the service runs on tablets, mobile, and more"
