PC players: note that the bleakness of the vids is probably not as bad as it may seem, as the vid is shown from an xbox, on which everything looks quite lifeless compared to PCs. A lot of colour, contrast and sharpness information is lost on consoles (the vid below illustrates this point quite well):

-objective-based gametypes reward teamplay more (which is not bad at all)
-dedis not confirmed (which is quite insulting)
-MP difference between MW3 and MW2 is "polish and balance" (in other words don't expect anything revolutionary - personally I don't mind this at all)
-in: High gun damage, gun on gun focus, depth of features but simplistic in design. (in other words: guns will do Stopping Power damage)
-out: OMA, Commando, Overpowered Explosives, Nukes, Last Stand aka Second Chance perk (Commando, OMA and nukes have been expressly confirmed OUT, the rest unknown. Personally I want to see Last Chance out COMPLETELY and not just weakened - it is easily the lamest perk ever trumping commando, OMA and marturddom. Also note that deathstreaks are not included in this list which is suspicious - they should be removed completely and bad players should not be catered to or helped in any way as this is simply unfair)
-public beta not confirmed (in other words there won't be any. Personally I don't mind this too much because public beta players tend to be useless and steer the game in a wrong and more noobish direction)
-focus on audio awareness including bullet whizzbys (in other words they won't pull a BO sound BS which wrecked that game completely)
-no dive to prone (good, I've always said it was shit and had no place in the game)
-explosives rebalanced (again good, the only use of explosives should be to take care of campers and in every other way they should be useless)
-based on CoD 4 (again not bad, CoD 4 had several design elements that should hold fast)
-hardpoint system "completely changed" (I have no idea what this means but by the way they said it seems to mean they no longer do all the killing for you)
-"major focus on long-term game support" (sales pitch obviously but perhaps they'll stick a bit closer to their game - knowing IWs history this is unlikely though)
-something resembling theatre mode will be in (would be good to be able to make movies - everything else is not important IMO)
-no focus on combating quickscoping (good, BO tried to and all they did was wreck hardscoping more than quickscoping, making sniping even more useless than it ever was before)
-spec ops reveal soon (nice, the survival mode sounds like fun tbh)
-audio so far including dialogue is a placeholder (as I suspected, though I would like to see some new sounds and animations really)
The brave hide behind technology. The stupid hide from it. The clever have technology, and hide it.

In multiplayer, will weapon attachments be unlocked like mw2, or blops?
[–]fourzerotwo [S]
Neither. We have a unique new way that weapon attachments and upgrades to your weapon are earned in Modern Warfare 3.
[–]sub1ime
Can you give us some info on killstreaks in MW3?
[–]fourzerotwo [S]
We have completely re-vamped how "killstreaks" work in Modern Warfare 3, however its far to early to start confirming details.
[–]snipawolf
What do you think is a good balance for the bloody screen?
Will special ops be back?
[–]fourzerotwo [S]
Somewhere between Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 2's. I feel we went too far with MW2's blood screen, we have addressed that in Modern Warfare 3, adding in more directional situational awareness tweaks to it that allow you to better understand the source of the damage so you can do more to prevent a total death.
Special Ops is definitely coming back, both the traditional mission mode and an all new Survival mode.

Just wanted to take this time to say. Thank you to all the IW Team that have put all there hard work and I hope they still keep on putting all there hard work into making MW3 the best selling Game of 2011 and I can't wait to get my hands on yet another awesome Game made by the best Games studio. Thank you Rob and Thank you to all the Team putting there time into this Epic game
P.s do you know if COD4 will get fixed as its been hacked to bits and I really want to get some Games on there for old times sake
[–]fourzerotwo [S]
Thanks man, I appreciate it.
Call of Duty 4 is currently being looked into and is not being abandoned or forgotten. Our main priority now, beyond MW3 development, is getting MW2 synced up on all platforms. We patched PS3 first, then patched Xbox 360 with additional updates, and want to get another patch out for PS3 that gets it equal to Xbox 360 as well as get the patch out for the PC version. Then we'll do the same for COD4.

Multiplayer: Do I really have to pay extra to get the full features? and if so, what features would I get?
[–]fourzerotwo [S]
Absolutely not. Multiplayer in-game has no fee or option to pay a fee at all. You buy the game and you get everything that everyone else gets, there is no option to buy advantages.
What you may be referred to is the ELITE service that Activision is doing that allows you to check full detailed stats, create groups, clans, compete in competitions and tournys, and a lot more. That service is also free to all Call of Duty players, they have said they will include paid features that are optional but not have said what they'll be.
The coolest free feature in ELITE that I will actually use is the ability to change your create a class from anyone online (or your phone / tablet) and push it to the game.
Sounds like the CoD ELITE isn't an idea by IW but by Activision
[–]NickeS
What did IW learn from IWnet and how can we expect MW3 to differ?
[–]fourzerotwo [S]
It worked in making the game more accessible, there is no denying that, however it failed in allowing our audience a choice in how they experience their game. We'd like to correct that for Modern Warfare 3 and give the mass the option to enjoy the ease of matchmaking but not restrict our other users who wish to have more control over their experience.
Sounds like they are actually listening to ppl
[–]HaZzz
What perks are you dropping from previous games ? OMA , Commando , Second Chance ?
[–]fourzerotwo [S]
All of the above. None of those are perks in Modern Warfare 3.

There's one thing I can't really understand though. The lack of dedicated servers.
Basically their argument is correct: Most players want to press "play now", and play without having to find a server.
However, why not have dedicated servers and the "play now" feature selects one of those servers? (Like BF:BC2 does it)
Matchmaking isn't a bad idea, but MW2's execution completely sucked. Manual looking for a server is definetly faster than waiting for some shitty match to start.
I don't like having to wait for alterIWnet to make a decent system again this time.

If this is the coolest thing for the free version of ELITE, then I see no point in using it at all if I ain't going to pay for it. Why would I want to use my phone to manage classes when I am not even playing the game?

I hate, loathe, despise, revile Nukes and the gameplay they inspire right down to the bottom of my black little soul.
Will there be Nukes in MW3 and if so, what do you think they add really? Why should a button that ends the game for everyone (even your own team) just so you can sit in a lobby for a while admiring the size of your digital wang add to the general gameplay experience?
Could we at least have a "no nukes" option for those of us that HATE playing with it?
[–]fourzerotwo [S]
No, the nuke has been removed from the game. We are focusing on "killstreaks" that support and encourage you to be a better player not supplement you being a better player.
[–]wingsofgaming
Will the maps be pretty like Favela and Terminal from MW2?
[–]fourzerotwo [S]
Every level and environment has it's own feel and tone to it. Not everything should be bright and colorful, although a little of both is perfect.
On the topic of dedicated servers:
Ckrawl
Will MW3 Have Dedicated servers on PC? Why did IW take them away from MW2? CoD4 was a perfect PC title, MW2 wasn't. Why cant you just do what you guys did in CoD4? And let us have the same freedom we once did?
[–]fourzerotwo [S]
I want dedicated servers for the PC version of Modern Warfare 3 and we are currently discussing how we can support them, however am not ready to confirm if they will or will not be part of MW3.
The decision to create IWnet was a simple one, we wanted to make the PC version of our game more accessible. We were successful in this by introducing matchmaking and a lobby system. You could quickly find a game, but you did not have the control and consistency that our PC players have come to enjoy.
In an ideal world, I would like Modern Warfare 3 to have both. The ability to the mass PC user to quickly get in a game by default matchmaking via IWnet. However, I would also like to accommodate our users who desire a dedicated server experience, whether by direct IP input or server browser support.
These are the discussions we are currently having on how we can look at go back to our Call of Duty 4 philosophy of PC specific feature.

So Infinity Ward is going to fix an older game which is hacked to bits but Treyarch won't go back to World at War and fix that...Yeah I know, different developers...
Slightly off topic;
World at War was my first Call of Duty game and I really liked it, the zombie mode was kind of cool and the multiplayer was nice. What I didn't like was the cheap MP40. Now I can't play anything multiplayer wise because it's hacked to bits and I apparently stumbled into a hacked lobby without knowing.
As for Blops ,zombie mode was cool but I didn't like the multiplayer much as it promoted too much camping.
But regarding the game:
Haven't tried the Modern Warfare series extensively (I probably played 2 games and got bored of it), so I don't know what to say really. Heard that MW2 caused a uproar though because of no dedicated servers or mod tools... So yeah.
Just thought I'd share.

Did they say anything about CoD4? The only thing I noticed was that they wan't to base MW3 off CoD4(instead of MW2) gameplay-wise, not that they'll do anything for CoD4.
Also my opinon couldn't be any more different.
Using CoD4 as a base for MP is a good thing imho, as it was the best of all CoDs. TBH CoD:WaW wasn't bad, but it was no where near MW in terms of quality. When it was released I played and enjoyed it for some time, but once you play MW1&2 again you'll never want to play any of Treyarchs crap again. (this counts for me at least)
Also @Zombie mode: I like the idea, but I found one of CoD4's Zombie Mods way more enjoyable than any of Treyarchs official ones.
And yes, no dedicated servers and modtools for MW2 suck, but overall gameplay is still excellent, and there are some projects that fixed these problems (not entirely legal though)
