I don't and will not ... You can go and preach me about what is alchocols' goodness to body but obviously bad things about it more than goods . Also its banned in my religion so I can't , even if I ain't religious , I still will not take it .

I don´t. I´ve seen at first hand what it can do to people over time (I´m not talking about excessive drinking!) and I´d like to live a tad longer and prefferre a less unpleasant ending.
Now go out and procreate. IN THE NAME OF DOOM!

I drink in moderation, im now a 3rd year at uni and dont go out to clubs and get 'smashed'. i drink in social circles and occassionally enjoy a random (ie not mass marketed) beer with my housemates.

@General Im curious what is the english translation of the rules on alcohol from the Qu'ran (sp?)

"They question thee about strong drink and games of chance. Say: In both is great harm and utility for men; but the harm of them is greater than their usefulness." (Al-Baqarah 219).

"O ye who believe! Strong drink and games of chance and idols and divining arrows are only an infamy of Satan's handiwork. Leave it aside in order that ye may succeed." (Al Ma'idah 90).

There maybe more but these are the ones I find .

i wouldn't say i drink in 'moderation', but i've never thrown up due to alcahol, so i suppose i don't drink too much, but IMO as long as you don't abuse it, theres nothing wrong with it :P

I confess that I had a year long bender once... but since then my drug of choice has changed. I don't mind harmless drunks, friendly drunks, even loud drunks... but I can't stand drunk people who get violent. It all depends on your initial personality, IMO.

so true

when one of my mates drinks he becomes very depressed, which in some respects is worse than getting violent, we don't seem him for long periods of times, he hasn't hurt himself yet, but the way he acts it seems a possability :)

Well , so you see , its more dangerous than smoke in some circumstances . My father smoking since 30 years over and He is still healthy , but alcohol harm you and peoples around you after you drink it , not when you being old or something , traffic accidents , rappings , violence ( most of the times ) , you see ! actually its more dangerous than smoking but when you say : Ban alcohol aswell ! , peoples say you : Shut up , if you not want , not drink , let others drink it . But alcohol not only harm you but others aswell , just like smoke .

Both are same shit .

no thats completly taking it out of context, its like saying lets ban salt, if we have too much it can damage us, its the same as alcahol, as long as you don't have too much its fine...

@ General
Smoking causes cancer which is a long term disease. You can't see it at its earlier stages unless you do a scan. I believe smoking is at least as dangerous.

I believe smoking should be banned from public places (so others, like me, are not bothered by it). But if someone wants to smoke, do drugs and/or drink alcohol, it's their body so their choice. As long as it does not harm anyone else. If you ban it, people will find other ways to get it and do it in secret. So better let it done controlled.

I personally do not do any of these things.

I too not do any of these things and if you ban any of them , you must ban others too , thats what I mean .

Also you not need to talk me about scientific process of the harm of cigar , I know it already.

Also you not get what I mean : Even you drink alcohol in your home , as you lose your brain when you get drunk , you can go out and harm anyone , its not bothering me whenever they drink that , its bothering me when someone take it to outside of its harmness .

I am not for total bannage, just bannage from smoke in public places.
The difference is if someone sits next to you and smokes, you inhale the smoke too. You don't inhale the alcohol.

About the smoke I only said that because you said "My father smoking since 30 years over and He is still healthy , but alcohol harm you".

Not every drunk person gets violent though. Should all of them be punished because of a few?

Either I can't tell what I am trying to say or you not understand .

I sure the hell know you not take the alcohol when someone drink it nearby you , but most of the times they attack others when they drunk either by swearing them or by acting , sometimes rape womans and then , thats what I am talking about .

Most of the times that does not happen. Only in a few occasions. That's how it's here anyway. I'm not saying I support drunkenness, I have never been drunk. But here that doesn't happen often really, gladly.
