I smell compensation. :read: It is nice though, granted.


I just made a vessel that has a passing effect of a locust. I call it the Zyphon. I'll get a picture of it. I tested it and a group of six of them are insanely powerful. They took out a Thor and they aren't half it's size.

EDIT:

The top is the Zyphon. The middle is my scout ship, the Leshen; the bottom is my support ship the Lobna.

There's a bug in the current version of the shipbuilder, that allows weapons to be parented to other weapons. Make sure you have a section selected when placing weaps, and not a weapon. I have this problem too, with the Tiger.

I know whats the problem. Go around deleting Sections Ctl+Z after each one. If any weapon doesn't disappear, delete it after you undo the deletion of the section.

OK, here we go. This is my WWII fleet I've been piecing together (Wikipedia FTW :read:), called the Iron Demons. Their motto is "Blut und Eisen". Their characteristics are as follows;
-Only one line of true general-purpose ships (the Panzer line, including the Panther, Tiger, Maus and Ratte);
-Very heavy forward firepower;
-Limited maneuverability;
-The use of small, nimble fightercraft to support their larger, more sluggish capital ships;
-Variants on basic hulls, turning a general-purpose ship into a specialised vessel.
Have fun pitting them against your über-ships ;)

Yes, I got hooked up aswell :read:
However I didn't feel like making XYZ super mega uber ship with 500 beamers 20 aegis projectors and fighter speed, I rather make more reasonable stuff...
So here's the (not entirely completed) Avatar, based it on the EVE online Amarr Avatar titan and gave it a one directional superweaon, similar to progenitor ships in homeworld 2. Yes it is an "ubership", sort of an anti capital ship thing, with its insane damage and good armor, but it is balanced, IMO, due to its extremely slow speed and lack of weaponry on the sides/back, except for a few auxillary blasters.

Armed with rapid burst fire railguns, two high energy penetration lasers, two heavy duty attacks lasers, four spread lasers, two fast firing anti-corvette guns, two anti-ship blasters, and anti-projectile weapons. All wrapped up in advanced shields located in the middle of the hull.

Oh and the angle of the ship makes the turrets looks crooked.

Nope, they rotate 360 degrees ;)
The main gun is only forward, though.

These things are REALLY light tanks I mean warships, plus I plan on making that one of the weaknesses of this fleet (the "Golden Eagles"), a lack of flak guns on regular combat ships. They are mounted on fire-support ships and a few heavy warships, and maybe a specialised ship or two, but most of them have little or no flak weaponry and thus, when faced with, say, carriers, they need to stay near a dedicated anti-small-craft ship.

A good rule of thumb would be to not have enough Defectors to stop all attacks against your biggest flank.
